A Wild Ride

A few minutes ago a player was eliminated from the ESPN Final Table after a rather eventful afternoon. Imagine that you're playing in the Main Event and you report to your table...only to find that you're going to be playing to the TV cameras as well. You have to remember to show your cards to the hole-card cameras and refrain from scratching yourself in any embarrassing spots. And by the way, Scotty Nguyen is holding court and laughing along with the crowd as he takes your chips.

One player at the TV table lost nearly his entire stack when he moved all in after a king-high flop holding {A-?} {A-?}. His opponent had {K-?}{K-?} for top set and took all but 450 of his chips. That had to feel like a kidney punch, losing all those chips in a hand that'll probably end up on ESPN in a few months.

And the roller coaster continued--he managed to double up and then triple with his micro-stack in short order. Another double up and he might've been gotten back on his feet...but he lost a race with overcards against a medium pair and that was it.

So, quite an adventure. Out of the World Series of Poker Main Event before the first break but with some face time on ESPN and a couple of wild hands to talk about.
