Alexander Kostritsyn opened with a preflop raise to 25,000 and Jeremy Joseph flat-called on the button. Ed Aister then reraised to 60,000 from the big blind with both opponents making the call.
They took a flop of and Aister checked to Kostritsyn who fired 102,000 into the middle. Jospeh called and Aister let it go.
The turn and river was checked through with Kostritsyn showing down to take down the pot and move to over 900,000 chips.
David Saab just took another hit in a hand versus Jason Su.
Saab raised to 25,000 from under the gun, and it folded back around to Su who called from the big blind. The flop came . Su checked, Saab bet 30,000, and Su called. The turn was the , and both players checked.
The river was the . Su bet 105,000, and Saab called. Su turned over for the nut flush, and Saab mucked. Su has 1.33 million now, and Saab has slipped to 950,000.
Joe Bishop raised to 28,000 from late position and Cort Kibler-Melby called from the button, as did Danny Fuhs from the big blind. They saw a flop and after Fuhs checked Bishop bet 90,000. Kibler-Melby folded and Fuhs moved all in for 180,000, which Bishop called.
He held to Fuhs' , and when the fell on the turn and the on the river Bishop had built his stack up to 710,000 and Fuhs was out.
Le Banh was all in before the flop against two other players. It was checked to the river and come showdown, Banh's was no good against his opponent's on a board of .
"This is not what to do when you're trying to win nine million dollars," said Daniel Buzgon as he finished his (first?) post-dinner beer. Buzgon is the same man who did a shot of vodka with Keoni Schwartz just before dinner.
Buzgon also infomed his table that he was running so badly, he lost credit card roulette at dinner.
Scott Carpenter thought he was in good shape for a double up holding pocket jacks up against the pocket tens of Joel Fischbein. All the chips were in the middle preflop and things got even better for Carpenter when he spiked a set on the flop of .
However things then turned sour with a on the turn and on the river giving Fischbein a running straight to send a shocked Carpenter to the exit.
Just prior the break we reported a big pot where Alex Outhred had eliminated a player. Amongst the rush of players leaving for the dinner break we thought it was Terry Lade who had departed but this should have been Jose Martin.
The aforementioned post has been corrected and Terry is still going strong with about 1.4 million chips.
There's never a bad time to pick up pocket aces, and deep into Day 4 of the Main Event is certainly a good time. Cedric Kolstad got it all in before the flop with aces against Peter Traply's jacks and when they held up, Kolstad doubled his stack to 750,000. Traply is now down to 210,000.
Coming out of the break, Table #1 in the Blue section has picked up where it left off in terms of providing action.
David Saab raised to 30,000 from early position, and James McManus called from the cutoff. The flop came . Saab checked, McManus bet 38,000, and Saab called. The turn was the . Saab again checked, and this time McManus bet 78,000. Then Saab check-raised to 250,000, and McManus made the call.
The river was the . Saab fired out 400,000, and McManus pushed all in for a total of 650,000. Saab thought for a while, then decided not to commit anymore chips to the pot. As he folded, McManus showed one of his cards -- a trey.
After that hand, McManus is up to 1.6 million. Saab is at 1.1 million.
