Frank Browne Busts

On a flop of {3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Frank Browne and Kyle Carston are all in.

Browne: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Carston: {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

The flopped straight holds up (and even improves) with a turn and river of {8-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Browne is out. Carston has 875,000.

Bob Cook Out

Bob Cook moved all in preflop with pocket tens but was in trouble as Alexander Borteh made the call from the big blind with pocket jacks. A third jack on the flop was enough to end the day for Cook.

Berda Flies Away

Terry Stewart raised to 16,000 from late position, and Tomer Berda reraised to 46,000 from the big blind. Berda's bet only left him 34,000 behind, so it was clear he was going to be committed to going all of the way with this one. Stewart went ahead and reraised enough to put Berda all in, and Berda made the call.

Berda showed {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}, and Stewart {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. The flop was ugly for Berda -- {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. No sevens or running straight cards came to save him, and Berda is out.

Stewart is up to 960,000.

From Bad To Worse

Hasan Habib hasn't had things go his way today, and things just got a whole lot worse when he ran his {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} into the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} of Bernie Koerner.

The chips were in preflop with the board panning out {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{K-Spades} to give Koerner the double-up and leave Habib in trouble with only about 30,000 chips left.

ElkY Eliminated

ElkY From Day 3
ElkY From Day 3
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier moved in for his last 95,000 before the flop with {K-Clubs} {K-Spades} and Anthony Zinno called with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}. Zinno was looking for an ace and that's just what he found on the {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} flop. The {10-Clubs} on the turn and {5-Spades} brought ElkY no help and his Main Event came to an end.

Russ Silva Eliminated

After two limpers from late position, including Geert Jans from the button, Russ Silva pushed all in from the small blind for his last 13,500. Jans made the call and the players showed:

Silva: {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}
Jans: {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}

Silva led, but the roles were reversed when flop came {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {4-Hearts}. The turn and river were the {8-Spades} and {3-Hearts} respectively and Silva was eliminated.

Tschirch Heads for the Cage

Big pairs seem to be holding today with a bit more frequency than we've seen on previous days of the Main Event. Tim Taylor's pocket queens prevailed over Mark Tschirch's pocket sixes on a board of {4-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {7-Spades} {K-Spades} after all the money went in preflop. That hand sent Tschirch to the rail and bumped Taylor up to the 500,000 mark.

Scott Sets Up an Elimination

Kara Scott
Kara Scott
Preflop, Kara Scott had made it 17,000 to go when a player on the button moved all in. Scott called and showed pocket kings and was up against her opponent's pocket jacks. Scott flopped a set and her opponent failed to improve, sending him to the rail and bumping Scott's count up to 280,000.
