Seeing the Past, Then a Future

On a flop of {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}, Marc Podell got all of 150,000 or so chips in the middle with {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. He was up against Terry Stewart's {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} -- the case eight. The river was the {6-Diamonds}, and the pair chopped the pot.

"So gross," said Podell afterwards. "I just had my life flash before my eyes!" He still has his 150,000, while Terry Stewart has about 750,000.

Shahram Rastegari Crippled

Shahram Rastegari opened for a raise, Sean David moved all in for 115,000 and Rastegari made the call.

David {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

Rastegari {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {9-Hearts} {5-Spades} {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} and David's queens held up. He's now up to 240,000 while Rastegari was crippled, left with only 45,000.

Vos Steamrolls Schaffer

Mark Vos
Mark Vos
Tom Schaffer had only one move when he picked up {10-Spades} {10-Hearts}. He immediately moved in his last 77,000 chips. Unfortunately for Schaffer, Mark Vos woke up with {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} and made an easy call. His queens held up on a board of {2-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {K-Clubs} to send Schaffer to the cage.

Vos now has 1,030,000 in chips.

A Fine Double Up

Marc Fineman and Cristian Dragomir saw a flop of {J-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs} and moved all of their chips into the middle. Fineman was on the short stack with his {K-Spades}{J-Hearts} but held the lead against the {J-Spades}{5-Clubs} of Dragomir.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} and the river the {5-Hearts}, to give Fineman the double up with his king kicker. Fineman is up to 500,000 with Dragomir slipping to about 700,000.

Saab Gets Good Mileage with Big Slick

Alan Jaffray, David Saab
Alan Jaffray, David Saab
David Saab got it all in preflop with {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and found himself up against Alan Jaffray's {A-Spades}{9-Spades}. The board came {J-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, and Saab moves up to 940,000. Jaffray is now down to 210,000.

"Mark Vos, watch out!" said Saab afterwards. "I'm coming for you." He's nearly there, as Vos (who's playing at another table on the other side of the room) is just over a million at the moment.

Mike Blocksidge Eliminated-- Kings, then Aces Cracked

Mike Blocksidge
Mike Blocksidge
Robert Ford and Mike Blocksidge got into a preflop raising war, Ford ending up all in with {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} vs. Blocksidge's {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. The flop was {9-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {3-Clubs}, the turn was the {3-Diamonds}, but the {A-Clubs} spiked on the river to snap off Blocksidge's kings. He was crippled to only 25,000 while Ford raked in the 980,000 pot.

On a subsequent hand, Blocksidge open-shoved for the rest of his chips and Brandon Becker called. Blocksidge held {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} to Becker's {J-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. It just wasn't Blocksidge's day, as the flop came down {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} {8-Hearts}, Becker hitting two pair. The turn was the {4-Diamonds}, the river was the {10-Spades} and Blocksidge was eliminated. Becker is now up to 390,000.

Brian Lamanna Eliminated

Brian Lamanna opened with a preflop raise to 18,000 before Peter Neff reraised to 100,000 from the big blind. Lamanna made the call with his tournament on the line.

Lamanna: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Neff: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The board fell {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{A-Spades}{9-Clubs} to give Neff a pair of aces and dash the hopes of Brian Lamanna.

A Little Power Poker

After Ross Smith raised to 15,000 on the button Chris Barrile reraised to 61,000 from the small blind. Lanini Davor then reraised to 121,000 from the big blind. That's when Smith brought out the heavy artillery and moved all in for 310,000. Barrile folded, Davor folded, and Smith pulled in a big pot without ever seeing the flop. He's now up to 500,000.
