Break Confusion

It was just announced that players are not on break and that they are still hand for hand. A lot of players completed their hands and left the room, assuming they were going on break. If they fail to return, hand for hand will continue without them and they'll miss about 15-20 minutes of play.

Miracle Chop

A potential bubble player survived here in Amazon Green when his {Q-?}{Q-?} was all in versus {A-?}{A-?} on a board of {6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}. The straight on the board allowed the short stack to survive with a split pot.

Deep Thoughts With Lon McEachern

Lon McEachern is standing over here chatting with us over near the Blue section and made an observation that holds very true to poker players.

"It's funny how that a fire alarm goes off and nobody moves. Let a clock hit zero, and everyone runs."

When observing a player who is short-stacked he said, "That guy only has about 30,000. He hasn't done anything in awhile."

Another person commented, "Some people play to win and some are money people."

McEachern: "He looks like a money person."

Double Up

Ben Roberts calls a short stack's all-in with {J-?}{J-?} and runs into {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. The board is {4-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and the short stack doubles up. Roberts has 140,000.

A Millie, A Millie, A Millie!

Stack them chips Jeremiah, stack them chips
Stack them chips Jeremiah, stack them chips
Jeremiah Smith just hit the 1,000,000 chip mark and is the first person to do so in this year's Main Event! With the chip average at just over 200,000, Smith is our chip leader and the only player in seven figures. He took a pot when he flopped the nut flush to put him over the million mark.

Smith has been playing solid poker and is really using his big stack well. There have been few pots that Smith has given up at his table, and he will be a true force to tangle with, especially with the chip stack he has built.

There is no guarantee that Smith will go deep in the Main Event, but it sure looks like it. In previous years, Joe Hachem and Jerry Yang didn't hold the chip lead going into the money, but they were still able to play their cards just right to take it down. Jamie Gold had a massive chip lead going into the money and rode it all the way to the final table, and for the win. Smith does have Sigurd Eskeland hot on his heels, but at the opposite end of the room. Besides Smith, there isn't anyone who has half the chips he has at his table.

Dealer Workout

The early tables finish much sooner than the later tables, meaning some dealers have to stand for a really long time during hand for hand, to signify that their play is done. Let's hope all of them have good shoes.

Johnny Chan Can at the Bubble

On a flop of {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} , Johnny Chan checked into a middle-position player who bet 10,500 and Chan made the call. At this point, ESPN cameramen, about a dozen media outlets, and about ten players from other tables were gathered around to watch the hand.

On the turn of the {K-Diamonds}, Chan again checked to his opponent, who bet out 23,000. Chan made the call.

The river fell the {5-Spades} and once again Chan checked to his opponent, who bet out 58,000. Chan once again made the call.

Chan showed {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts} and his opponent showed {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs}.

After the hand, Chan moved up to 336,000 in chips.
