The Brady Plan

Matt Brady tells us that he figures he'll have around the starting chips throughout the entire day, and then end the day with 60 or 70K. "That's the plan!" he said with a laugh.

Greyce High

On a turn of {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, the cutoff bets 500 and David Grey raises to 2,000 on the button. The cutoff calls.

The river is {5-Hearts} and the cutoff checks. Grey bets 5,000 and the cutoff calls.

Grey has {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and the cutoff {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. "Ace high! Wow." says Grey, as he drops to 14,000.

Theo Tran's Bluff Picked Off

On a flop of {K-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs} Theo Tran checked, Thomas McLaughlin bet 1,200 from the cutoff, the button called and Tran called. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and the action was checked around. The river was the {5-Hearts}. Tran led out for 3,500, McLaughlin folded and the button called.

Tran showed ten-high for a bluff, while the button turned over {8-Spades} {9-Spades} for two pair and dragged the pot.

Tran is down to 27,000.

Easy Pezzin

Pat Pezzin called a preflop all-in from one of his opponents. Pezzin was behind, but his cards were live -- he held {9-Hearts} {8-Hearts} against his opponent's {K-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. The board ran out {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. Just the nine would have been enough, but Pezzin wound up making a flush to eliminate his opponent and chip up to about 40,000.

Wriggle Off the Hook

After an early-position player limped Konstantin Bucherl raised to 775 and Leo Boxell called on the button. The original limper called as well and they saw a {Q-Spades} {J-Hearts} {4-Spades} flop. The early-position player checked. Bucherl bet 1,200 and Boxell raised to 3,200. The first player got out of the way and Bucherl went into the tank for about two minutes. He finally relented and folded {K-?} {Q-?} face up, and Boxell said, "Nice laydown," as he tabled {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}.

Hover Vacuums Chips

On a board of {5-Hearts}{K-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{J-Clubs}, a player bets 1,000 and Thomas Hover raises all in to 3,400. Peter Krieg calls, the bettor calls, and both opponents muck when they see Hover's {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}. Hover triples up to 11,000.

O Say Does That Star-Spangled Banner Yet Wave

To celebrate the Fourth of July, small American flags were passed out to players entering the Amazon Room today. Players were also given flags of other countries as well, with many international players taking both an American flag and their native country's flag to fly at the tables.

Tyner Shows Fischman a Boat

We caught up to this hand on the flop. With the board reading {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}, Scott Fischman bet 600 from the cutoff seat. His lone opponent, Nancy Todd Tyner, made the call from the button. The turn fell the {9-Hearts} and Fischman checked. Tyner bet 600 and Fischman raised to 2,100. Tyner called. The {A-Clubs} hit the river. Fischman bet 7,000 and Tyner smooth-called. She showed {A-Spades} {9-Spades} and Fischman curiously mucked.

She later told him she didn't raise because she feared {A-?} {Q-?}. She climbed to about 36,000 chips on the hand while Fischman slipped to just over 14,000.

We caught the action on the turn with Kathy Liebert firing 2,000 into the middle on a board of {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. Her opponent in the cutoff position made the call. The river was the the {6-Spades} and both players checked it down.

Liebert asked "Do you have a pair?"

The reply was "Of course!" as he tabled {A-?}{9-?} for top two pair. Liebert mucked her hand as she slips to about 19,000.
