Todd Witteles - Event #12
Todd Witteles - Event #12
Todd Witteles had just moved to a new table when he got involved in a hand that would end his Main Event.

Witteles found himself all in preflop with pocket queens. Oliver Berman was in the hand with him and had pocket kings. The board ran out {6-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {5-Hearts} {10-Hearts} to felt Witteles.

Varkonyi Lives to See Another Hand

Robert Varkonyi has been short-stacked all day. Faced with increasing blinds and antes, and a dwindling stack, he moved all in preflop for 8,700 after another player raised to 3,500. That player made the call with {8-Hearts} {8-Spades}; Varkonyi held {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}. Neither player improved. Varkonyi's pocket aces were the best hand and allowed him to double up to 19,000.

Oldberg Hits the Rail

Tom Oldberg eliminated

A flop of {Q-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {5-Hearts} proved to be Tom Oldberg's undoing. He bet 2,000 and was called by Anders Berg. When the turn came {7-Diamonds}, Oldberg bet 2,000 again and was raised all in by Berg. He made the call for a total of 6,000, only to find out he was drawing completely dead. Berg held {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} against Oldberg's {A-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}. The river was the {8-Clubs}.

Berg now has 95,000 in chips.

Young Gets More Chips

Jason Young limped in from the cutoff and then the big blind moved all in for 21,000. Young made the call. Young held {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} and his opponent in the big blind was dominated with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {10-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {10-Spades} and Young picked up the pot and is cruising around 82,000.

Young mentioned that the guy had moved all in for a big overbet three times in a row. "I finally got a hand," said Young.

Action folded around to Phidias Georgiou in the small blind and he raised to 875. Ross Boatman moved all in for just over 9,000 from the big blind and Georgiou made the call. The players showed:

Georgiou: {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}
Boatman: {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs}

Boatman was dominated from start to finish as the board ran out {K-Hearts} {7-Spades} {2-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}. Georgiou climbed to just over 36,000 on the hand and sent Boatman to the rail.

The board ran out {Q-Clubs} {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}-X and Goetsch got the elimination and moved up to 70,000 chips.

Oh, is That a TV Camera Over There? I Didn't See It

The "one time" crowd has gotten out of control. The latest in poker jargon, one time, has become a catch-phrase for all of those people that feel the poker gods have slighted them over the years. It's the new "so sick" (as in, "that beat I took was so sick!"). A player on Blue #2 just stood up and shouted out, as loud as he could, "Please one time!" Of course an ESPN camera crew that was nearby came running over, causing the player to shout "one time!" again and then give a fist pump when he won the hand.
