Gus Hansen and Tom "durrrr" Dwan have met again at the same table. They are seated right next to one another, with Gus on Dwan's right.
Gus just announced to the table, "I can't wait for pot-limit Omaha," and then leaned back in his chair and began to lick his lips and nod towards Dwan. Signifying that he is going to feast on him in Omaha.
Dwan has his headphones on and didn't hear or see the action. Things should pick up real soon at this table. Both players are really aggressive and have big stacks.
After the bubble burst, the players were to redraw for their new seating arrangements. That was all standard, but because this is a new mixed event with a new structure, it was said that at each redraw the play would begin with 2-7 triple draw.
Greg "FBT" Mueller seemed to like the idea as he liked his edge in the game and the games that followed after it. On the other side of things was Tom "durrrr" Dwan. He very strongly opposed starting with triple draw every time and confronted the Tournament Director about it.
He went as far as saying that it was absurd to start each redraw like that and also said something along the lines of, "I'm going to go make a Two-Plus-Two post about this right now. It's absurd."
After a lot of back-and forth between some of the players and the tournament staff, the decision was made that when each redraw occurs a random game would be selected. The Tournament Director will fan out eight cards, ace through eight, and a random player will pull a card to determine which game is to be played.
Jeff Madsen and Chad Brown can breathe now. The bubble has just burst with the elimination of Minh Ly in a monster multi-way stud-8 hand.
Eli Elezra: (x-x)
Doyle Brunson: (x-x)
Minh Ly: (x-x)
William McMahan: (x-x)
McMahan had the bring-in, Elezra completed, Brunson called, Ly raised, and all three players called.
On fourth street the betting was capped four ways.
On fifth street Elezra bet, Brunson raised, Ly called all in for 9,500 and McMahon folded.
On sixth Elezra bet and Brunson called.
On seventh Elezra bet and Brunson folded.
Ly turned up in the hole for a pair of aces but Elezra showed for trip fives. Neither player made a low and Elezra scooped the monster pot, eliminating Ly.
During the break, there has been some confusion on whether or not the tournament will move to the next level. The players were told that hand-for-hand play would continue in the same level until one player was lost. Then the ruling was changed right before the break and some of the players are a little irritated and upset that they were misled.
The Tournament Director will be deciding by the end of this break on what the outcome will be and we'll keep you posted.
A short-stacked Jeff Madsen was all in on third street vs. Johnny Chan. After both boards were run, Madsen made trip eights, besting Chan's pair of nines and doubled up to 38,000.
