Theo Tran Eliminated in 4th Place ($191,231)

Theo Tran Eliminated
Theo Tran Eliminated
Hand #85 - Carter Gill

Theo Tran has the button in seat 2. Matt Keikoan is first to act and he raises to 75,000. Theo Tran calls from the button and Shannon Shorr folds his small blind. Carter Gill, playing from the big blind, raises to 380,000. With action back on Keikoan, he folds. Tran looks truly frustrated and he stares Gill down. Gill looks enthusiastically at Tran, almost excited that he might play the hand. Tran takes his time, and then eventually says "all in." Gill insta-calls and the players show:

Gill: {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}
Tran: {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}

The flop comes {K-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. The galleries of both players each shout out their ideal turn card. After a dramatic pause, the {K-Hearts} hits the turn. The theatrics on 4th street are identical to those on the flop. Eventually the suspense ceases when the dealer puts the {5-Diamonds} on the river. Tran, knowing he has either been eliminated or crippled, takes his hat off in disgust. He hugs Shannon Shorr who gives him a sincere consolation. After a recount by the tournament director, it's been determined that Gill had Tran covered and thus, Tran is our 4th place finisher. This is his second final table at the WSOP this year and for his impressive finish in this event, he'll take home a payday of $191,231.
