A Contrast of Styles

This will be an interesting battle and we're not really sure what to expect.

Marco Johnson has been relentlessly aggressive in raising preflop and taking down small pots, and has been very solid throughout. Meanwhile Alexandre Gomes has often taken down big pots with all in moves, and has certainly had some luck to be at this point. He seems prepared to gamble, while you feel that Johnson will be patient and wait for his spot to strike.

The players are still relatively deep compared to the blinds, so you'd expect a fair amount of heads up play, but the way this final table has gone so far, we could see a big pot at any moment!

Ryan D'Angelo Eliminated in 3rd Place ($326,812)

Ryan D'Angelo - 3rd Place
Ryan D'Angelo - 3rd Place
Preflop, Ryan D'Angelo raised to 150,000 and Alexandre Gomes moved all in. D'Angelo said, "Call? I call."

Gomes: {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}
D'Angelo: {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}

D'Angelo said, "We're flippin' for it"

The flop came {7-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {9-Hearts} and Gomes clapped his hands saying, "Yes!" D'Angelo started calling for, "Clubs!"

The turn gave the possibility of a chop when the {5-Spades} hit the turn.

The river hit the {3-Diamonds}. The floorman started counting both players chips, and when the smoke cleared, D'Angelo was covered.

Ryan D'Angelo is our 3rd place finisher. He walks away with $326,812.

Gomes Doubles Through D'Angelo

We caught the action on the turn with Ryan D'Angelo firing a bet of 420,000 into the middle on a board of {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Alexandre Gomes thought for a few moments and made the call on the button.

The river was the {A-Diamonds} and D'Angelo moved all in and Gomes snap-called with {A-Spades}{10-Clubs}.

"Nice river!" quipped D'Angelo as he mucked his cards.

Ryan D'Angelo falls to 2.8 million, while Gomes is now our chip leader with close to 3.5 million.

Robert Brewer Eliminated in 4th Place ($274,101)

Robert Brewer - 4th Place
Robert Brewer - 4th Place
Preflop, Ryan D'Angelo raised to 150,000 and Robert Brewer made the call. On a flop of {K-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {8-Spades}, Brewer bet out 325,000 and D'Angelo made the call. On the turn of the {4-Diamonds}, Brewer checked and D'Angelo moved all in. Brewer snap-called.

D'Angelo: {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades}
Brewer: {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts}

Brewer needed a six or a heart that did not pair the board.

The river fell the {7-Spades} and Brewer became our fourth place finisher. He will take home $274,101 for his efforts.

Alan Cutler Eliminated in 5th Place ($223,497)

Alan Cutler - 5th Place
Alan Cutler - 5th Place
Alan Cutler has just gone from hero to zero in an incredibly unlucky set of circumstances in consecutive hands.

In the first hand Cutler raised from the button to 175,000 and Gomes moved all in over the top for all of his chips. Cutler asked to take a look at the payout sheet before making the call.

Cutler: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Gomes: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}

The flop came {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} to give Cutler top two pair and leaving Gomes drawing to only a runner-runner to survive. With one foot out the door, the {6-Clubs} fell on the turn to give Gomes slim hope to hit one of the two remaining sixes to survive. Miraculously the {6-Hearts} fell on the river to the roar of the Brazilians on the rail and to the shock of Cutler.

The very next hand Cutler raised to 200,000 from the cutoff and the action folded to Marco Johnson in the big blind who moved all in. Cutler snap-called for about 700,000 and the cards were tabled.

Cutler: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Johnson: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

The board was once again cruel to Cutler as Johnson spiked a two-outer when it arrived {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{K-Clubs} to give Johnson the hand.

In devastating back-to-back bad beats Alan Cutler goes from one of our chip leader to being eliminated in 5th place for $223,497.

Brewer Takes Rare Post-Flop Pot

Ryan D'Angelo raised to 150,000 from the cutoff position and Robert Brewer made the call from the big blind.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Brewer checked to D'Angelo who made a continuation bet of 200,000. Brewer calmly announced he was all in and D'Angelo gave up the pot.

Brewer rakes in a rare post-flop pot and moves to 1.6 million chips.

Sverre Sundbo Eliminated in 7th Place ($134,942)

Sverre Sundbo - 7th Place
Sverre Sundbo - 7th Place
Ryan D'Angelo raised to 125,000 preflop and Sverre Sundbo moved all in for around 940,000 total. D'Angelo snap-called.

D'Angelo: {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}
Sundbo: {Q-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}

Flop: {5-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {4-Hearts}

After the flop, D'Angelo called out "Black and High. One time!"

Turn: {10-Clubs}

D'Angelo lets out a "Yes!" Sundbo starts to gather his things since he is drawing dead. The river card of the {5-Hearts} was meaningless and Sverre Sundbo became our seventh place finisher. He will take home $134,942 for his finish.

After the hand, D'Angelo in a show of sportsmanship came up to Sundbo and said, "Seriously, I enjoyed playing with you." They shook hands and Sundbo headed off to receive his pay.
