Player of the Year Landscape Altered

With 3rd place in this event guaranteed for Erick Lindgren, he will take the outright lead in the Milwaukee’s Best Light WSOP Player of the Year standings. The way things currently stand (before this event is “in the books”), Jacobo Fernandez is the leader with 232 points. Barry Greenstein will end the day with 235 points and Erick Lindgren, depending upon how he finishes tonight, will take the lead with anywhere from 245 pts (3rd place) to 285 pts (1st place finish.) There are a handful of POY eligible events remaining in the series, but it would take a very strong finish for another player to catch Lindgren.

Down In Front

Phil Hellmuth, who stands at least 6'5" tall, has been hanging out on the sidelines soaking up the attention and shouting out an occasional word of support for Scotty Nguyen. He's picked a less than ideal location however as he's been nearly hit in the head with the crane operated camera on at least three separate occasions.

Hand #278- Scotty Nguyen

Hold'em:

Michael DeMichele had the button in Seat 7. He raised to 300,000 and Scotty Nguyen called from the big blind. The flop came {6-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {9-Hearts}, Scotty checked and when Mike bet Nguyen check-raised. DeMichele called and the {J-Diamonds} came on the turn. Scotty bet 300,000 and DeMichele thought a good bit before making the call.

The {Q-Clubs} fell on the river, Scotty bet 300,000 and Mike called. Scotty showed the {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} for the queen on the river and Scotty took down the pot.
