Mel Judah Eliminated

Now that we're approaching Level 6, players are falling at a rapid rate here in the Blue section of the Amazon Room. Mel Judah is the latest victim, at the hands of Jon Shoreman. Shoreman stood pat on every draw with a smooth eight. Judah took one card on the first draw and one card on the second draw. He got all of the rest of his chips in after the second draw and stood pat. When he saw Shoreman's eight-five, he mucked his hand and departed the Amazon Room.

A Tough Way to Go

Marcel Luske eliminated
Marcel Luske eliminated
It's all over for Marcel Luske. He got it all in before the first draw against Steve Zolotow. Zolotow took one card; Luske stood pat. On the second draw Zolotow and Luske both stood pat. When Zolotow again stood pat on the third draw, Luske decided to break his hand and drew one. Before he could squeeze it, Zolotow turned over "Number Two" -- 7-6-4-3-2. Luske never looked at his last card. He declared that he was drawing dead, got up from his seat and left.

Near Misses

John Juanda was just eliminated when his 8-6 was beaten by his opponent's 7-6-5-3-2.

Mel Judah just avoided elimination when after standing pat with a 9 his opponent ended up drawing to a 10. Judah has 1,600.

Recent Eliminations

Mark Gregorich, Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke, John D'Agostino, Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, Alexander Kostritsyn and Daniel Negreanu have all been eliminated from the tournament.

Negreanu paid the price for tangling with Chad Brown. He raised on the button with a made eight and was called by Brown out of the small blind. Brown drew two on the first draw, check-called, then drew one on the second draw and check-raised. Negreanu elected to break his made eight on the third draw, drawing one card. Brown bet after the third draw, Negreanu raised, Brown reraised, and Negreanu called.

Negreanu: 7-6-5-3-2
Brown: 7-5-4-3-2

That hand crippled Negreanu; he went out shortly thereafter.

Singer Doubles

David Singer, following in Daniel Negreanu's footsteps, has doubled up. He drew two cards, then one card, then one card against a made eight-six. Singer finished with a seven-six. Both players started the hand with identical stacks and got the whole stack in. Singer doubles; the other player was eliminated.

Jesus Comes Back

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson

This hand took place just before the break.

After a raise from middle position, Men Nguyen called from the button and Archie Karas called from the small blind. Chris "Jesus" Ferguson then three-bet from the big blind, and everyone called.

Three players drew two cards, and Nguyen drew three. Ferguson bet, the MP player raised, Nguyen called, Karas folded, and Ferguson reraised with his remaining chips. Nguyen called, as did the MP player.

Ferguson and Nguyen then drew two, and the other player one. A bet and a call on the last round of betting, then Ferguson showed Q-8-5-4-2. Neither could beat the Q, and Ferguson tripled up to 3,600.
