Hand #17 - Alec Torelli

Vanessa Selbst has the button. She completes the small blind. Alec Torelli raises to 47,000. Selbst reraises another 75,000 on top of that, to 122,000. Torelli thinks about it briefly, then calls to see a flop of {J-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}. He checks the action to Selbst, who bets 150,000, about 60% of the pot. Her bet puts Torelli deep in the tank for the first time in this match. After a minute, he elects to call.

The turn card is the {A-Spades}; Torelli quickly checks it over to Selbst. She seems deep in thought, staring down at the felt but with an occasional glance at Torelli. After twenty seconds, she pushes out a bet of 275,000. The pot has over 800,000 chips in it now. Torelli is tanking again. If he calls this bet, almost half of the chips in play would be in the middle and up for grabs. After a minute, he does indeed call.

The river {K-Hearts} brings a quick check from each player. Torelli shows pocket 9s, for two pair, jacks and nines. Selbst mucks. Torelli is now the clear chip leader with 1,643,000. Selbst retains 917,000 chips of her own.

Hand #15 - Alec Torelli

Vanessa Selbst has the button. She makes it 30,000 to go. Alec Torelli fires back with a raise of his own to 100,000. Selbst makes the call.

The flop comes {5-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}. Torelli is first to act; he bets 130,000. Selbst quickly lays it down.

Hand #13 - Alec Torelli

Vanessa Selbst has the button. She completes the small blind. Alec Torelli checks his option.

The flop is {8-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts}. Torelli makes a motion towards his stack and before he can get any chips out on the table, Selbst pitches her cards into the muck.

Hand #12 - Vanessa Selbst

Alec Torelli has the button and makes it 30,000 to go. Vanessa Selbst then puts in a reraise, making it a total of 100,000 to play. Torelli makes the call and we see a flop of {6-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {K-Hearts}.

Vanessa then bets 128,000 and Torelli tanks for a bit before eventually kicking it up to 260,000. Vanessa makes a quiet call and the turn brings the {4-Diamonds}.

Selbst then checks, as does Torelli and the dealer burns one and reveals fifth street -- the {9-Spades}.

Another 'check, check' and a showdown ensues. "You first," Torelli says to Selbst who shows {8-?} {9-?} for a rivered pair of nines. Torelli sits up straighter in his seat and takes one last look at the board and then his cards, before tossing them into the muck.

"That was the worst hand ever," expressed one spectator.

Hand #11 - Alec Torelli

Vanessa Selbst has the button. She makes it 30,000 to go. Alec Torelli calls.

The flop comes all babies: {2-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. Torelli checks it over to Selbst, who fires a continuation bet of 35,000. Torelli calls to another baby on the turn: {3-Spades}. He checks again, and this time Selbst checks behind. On the {10-Clubs} river, Torelli reaches for chips and makes it 80,000 to go. Selbst thinks, then makes the call. Torelli shows {A-?} {10-?} for two pair, tens and deuces. That's enough to take it down.
