Before play resumed World Series Media Director Nolan Dalla took the mike and addressed the crowd. He said that Stu Ungar, whose name is such a part of World Series of Poker lore and who did so much to make the WSOP what it is today, passed away nearly ten years ago. Nolan then introduced Madeline Ungar, Stuey's former wife, who is sitting in the front row. As she stood, Mike Sexton, a longtime friend of Stuey's, gave her a hug as the crowd gave her a big ovation.
