The traditional "Shuffle up and deal" was given by former senator Alfonse D'Amato, who has become a very important figure in the poker world since he was appointed as chairman of the Poker Players Alliance late last year.

The Poker Players Alliance is an organization that is fighting for the rights of poker players in Washington, D.C., particularly in regards to the legalities of online gaming.

D'Amato gave a short speech for the cause, asking players "Shouldn't online poker be legal?" The crowd cheered back at him, and then he said, "Shuffle up and deal 'em!"

PokerNews Video has a scheduled interview with D'Amato either today or tomorrow. Be sure to check it out as soon as it's posted.
