This was only Thomas' second WSOP appearance; he played one event last year but failed to cash. Thomas, hailing from Westfield, NY, took home $5,514 for his 21st-place finish -- not bad for a second go around!
Shchemelev has since taken over the chip lead from Duran, and is currently sitting at 188,000 chips.
