One of the game's great champions (and one of our chip leaders coming into play today), Amarillo Slim Preston played a big pot with Hassan Kamoei and came out on the wrong end. Kamoei raised to 9,000 and Slim popped it up to 34K. Kamoei moved all-in, Slim called and turned over pocket Tens. But Kamoei had the Aces, and despite picking up a diamond draw on the flop, Amarillo Slim didn't catch the cards he needed the rest of the way and was eliminated.
The players and spectators around the table gave him an impromptu ovation as he stood up from the table, and as he walked to the payout table Media Director Nolan Dalla made an announcement to the entire Amazon Room that the former World Champion had been eliminated. And the entire room gave Amarillo Slim another big round of applause. Slim goes out in 96th place.
