The biggest buy in of the series got underway at 2pm Eastern time, but there was a whopping 400 minutes of late registration to navigate first. They started with about half the players needed to meet the $10 million guarantee, but it didn't take long for the virtual poker room to fill up.
They hit the guarantee just after the start of Level 13, and the pot just kept growing from there. When all was said and done, 505 entries swelled the prize pool to $12,372,500, and 71 players shared in that money.
When registration closed, there were less than 200 players still sitting with chips, and that number dwindled fast. It only took about two hours from the close of registration to start paying out minimum cashes of $57,547. One of the players to make it there, and beyond, was the winner of the first event in this series, "TheMadQueen". They won Event #1: COVID Charity 1M Gtd for more than $250,000, and managed to make it to the second pay level in this one for another $71,632.
Things moved pretty quickly, and within about two hours, the final 18 were set. It was another two hours again until the final nine were seated together. "Sub_Zero" was out quickly in 9th when their nines couldn't hold against ace-three, and they were quickly followed in 8th place by Brazil's "gaufreancienne" in a horrible spot with queens into aces.
"AlwaysWithNuts" was very short stacked when they got it in with suited connecters and couldn't get there against king-ten. "mm1993" took 6th shortly after with fours into eights. They played five handed for about 15 minutes before "M0therLover" found themselves all in with a dominated king for 5th place and $634,592.
It took another 20 minutes to decided 4th place in what was essentially a million dollar payjump. Canada's "BlackPhillip" ended up taking the last spot under $1 million ($865,750) when their dominated queen couldn't find any help. "HotPot44" followed quickly in 3rd for $1,181,110, setting up an epic heads up battle between "800-522-4700" and Patrick "Babu$hka" Leonard.
"800-522-4700" was in control most of the way, but Leonard fought back for more than half an hour. At one point they pulled close to even, but in the end, they ran into kings with ace-four, and couldn't get there. Leonard won $1,611,342 for 2nd place, while Costa Rican "800-522-4700" won $2,198,292 and the ring.
