Dean Schultz Eliminated in 8th ($15,896)

Dean Schultz goes all in for his last 72,000 and Jerry Martin calls.

Dean: {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Jerry: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}

Board: {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Dean is out in eighth. He also got eighth in the last WSOP Circuit in this boat, back in April. You can bet he'll be looking to get over that hump next time.

A Whelan of a Player

Derek Whelan has been playing very aggressively since doubling up. He's in lots of pots and is taking many of them uncontested. He currently sits on 200,000. He was as low as 86,000 today.

Jerry Martin Loses Another

In the cutoff, Joey Couden raises to 21,000 and Jerry Martin calls in the big blind.

The flop is {10-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Jerry checks. Joey bets 24,000 and Jerry calls.

The turn is {A-Hearts} and Jerry checks. Joey is all in for 71,000 and Jerry folds. He's down to 144,000, while Joey climbs to 170,000.

Derek Whelan Doubles Up

Jerry Martin raises to 25,000 from early position and Derek Whelan goes all in for 82,000 total. "Let's gamble," he says.

"I'm probably donating," says Jerry as he calls. He shows {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and Derek flips over {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

The board is {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} and Derek doubles through. He's up to 176,000 and Jerry drops to 165,000.

Good Thing He's On My Right

Len Ashby limps in, in the small blind, and Jerry Martin raises to 33,000 in the big blind. Ashby folds an {A-Spades} face up and Jerry shows {K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

"He's the king of bluffing," says Ashby of Martin. "Good thing he's on my right!"

Derek Successfully Guesses Cards

Derek Whelan raises to 22,000 and Len Ashby re-raises all in for 99,000 total.

Whelan goes into the tank. "I know you got an ace high, man," he says with a smile. "Ace-THREE!"

Jamin Stokes calls the clock on them. With about 30 seconds to go, Whelan does not call and Ashby indeed shows an A.
