Tran Gets the Double Up

Level 35 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Nghi Van Tran had made a few attempts at moving all in without getting a customer before the following hand happened where the action folded to Sergei Gurin in the small blind. He went for max pressure and moved all in while covering Tran. Tran found the call and the cards hit their backs with Tran all in and at risk.

Nghi Van Tran: A6 All in
Sergei Gurin: 85

The full board ran out K63107 and Tran was finally able to get the much needed double he was looking for. Gurin still sits top two.

Melanson Unloads the Clip

Level 35 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante
Dustin Melanson
Dustin Melanson

Dustin Melanson opened the action under the gun to 950,000 before it folded all the way to the big blind where Joey Messina defended.

The 3410 flop landed and the action checked to Melanson who down bet to 625,000 and was met with a call.

The J rolled off on the turn and it check to Melanson who fired again for 1,700,000. He was met with another call from Messina.

The J hit the river and Messina checked for the third time. Melanson took a moment and then fired the last shell. He moved in while covering.

Messina went into a deep tank but eventually thought better of a call. His cards hit the muck and Melanson did not reveal his hand before he mucked. Was it value or did he get one through?

Israel Pantaleon Eliminated in 7th Place ($65,000)

Level 34 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Israel Pantaleon
Israel Pantaleon

Current chip leader Sergei Gurin opened in early position before the action folded to Israel Pantaleon on the button who moved all in for his tournament life. The blinds folded and Gurin snap called.

"Aces again?" Pantaleon asked, and although they weren't aces, it still wasn't great news.

Israel Pantaleon: QQ All in
Sergei Gurin: KK

Pantaleon was gonna need to drill the flop and that's exactly what he did on the 8Q10 board. The rail went wild.

Unfortunately, the poker gods had other plans and they promptly put the K on the turn giving Gurin the best hand. The rail went even wilder and the A river sealed the deal.

Pantaleon still earned a great payout and has a ton to be happy about.

Matthew Paplyk Eliminated in 8th Place ($50,000)

Level 34 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Matthew Paplyk
Matthew Paplyk

Matthew Paplyk raised to 2,000,000 from under the gun, leaving himself just 225,000 behind. It then folded to Sergei Gurin on the button who took his time before flat calling the two million and the remining players folded.

"Any chance you fold?" Paplyk joked as the 1094 flop landed. He put in the last 225,000 and before Gurin even called, he flipped over the rockets and flicked in a chip. The story got even tougher when Paplyk tabled his hand.

Matthew Paplyk: KK All in
Sergei Gurin: AA

Paplyk was on the wrong end of yet another cooler on this final table. The 4 turn and the J river did not bring the help he needed and Paplyk hit the rail after an amazing showing on the felt.
