Meng Knocks Out Willard

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Jeffrey Willard had lost most of his stack in a recent hand and was down to just 12,000 in the big blind. Qingwei Meng open-shoved to 200,000 from under the gun, forcing out all other players except Willard who made the call and was at risk.

Jeffrey Willard: 94 All in
Qingwei Meng: KK

Meng was way ahead with the pocket kings and remained so on the 878 flop. The 2 turn gave Willard a flush draw but the K river improved Meng to a full house to score the knockout.

Willard Claims a Bounty

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Four players saw a flop of 39Q6. Ryan Olaivar was already all in from the small blind creating a main pot of roughly 75,000 and a side pot of approximately 60,000. Jeffrey Willard checked from early position, Austin Saunders bet 30,000 from the cutoff, Chun Kit Kwan folded from the button and Willard made the call.

On the J river Willard moved all in sending Saunders into the tank. After a couple minutes Kwan called the clock and shortly after Saunders made the call.

Olaivar had completely missed with 108. Saunders tabled 106 for a pair of sixes but Willard showed down 88 for a pair of eights to take the pot. Willard would pull a $1,000 bounty for the elimination of Olaiver.

The action continues today at the 2024 World Series of Poker Circuit Playground with the final day of Event #5: $800 Mystery Bounty. The fifth of 15 circuit events attracted a field of 318 entrants to generate a prize pool of $221,010, smashing the $100,000 guarantee. Only 48 players managed to find a bag at the end of yesterday's day 1 and advance to the final day. Those players have all locked up a min-cash of $600 and will have a shot at both the top prize of $22,000 and $50,000 top bounty.

Chun Kit Kwan bagged the overall chip lead going into Day 2, finishing Day 1 with 597,000 chips, worth just under 100 big blinds going into the final day. Kwan, who just two days ago entered the final day of the $400 Monster Stack with the overall chip lead, is most closely followed by Mitchell Dredge (554,000) and Jimmy Setna (534,000). Setna is no stranger to success in large tournament fields, having finished 15th in the 2022 WSOP Main Event for $410,000.
