Blind on Blind Warfare Propels Rock

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante

Ben Rock limped in from the small blind, and Byron Ziebell checked his option in the big blind.

Rock checked the {8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop to Ziebell, who bet 600. Rock check-raised to 1,600 and Ziebell called.

Rock bet 3,200 on the {7-Diamonds} turn, and Ziebell called.

The {2-Spades} completed the board on the river, and Rock bet 3,100. Ziebell called, then mucked after Rock showed {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a flopped set.

Ditrapani's Ace-Queen Busts Two

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante

Zach Heiman jammed for 3,600 from middle position, and Nicola Ditrapani three-bet to 7,000 from the cutoff. The small blind four-bet shoved for 23,600, and DItrapani said, "Are you the type of guy to shove nines or tens?" before calling a short time later.

Zach Heiman: {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Opponent: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Nicola Ditrapani: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Ditrapani found help on the {6-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop, but Heiman picked up outs for the main pot on the {j-Hearts} turn. The {j-Clubs} river was a brick, and Ditrapani scored the double knockout.

Ken Donarski Claims Second Ring After Coming Up Short In Event #1

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante
Ken Donarski
Ken Donarski

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Potawatomi.

In Event #5: $400 NLH Turbo, 155 runners created a $55,155 prize pool that was paid out to the top 24 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the official final table were Thai Dinh (10th- $915), Jason Alonzo (13th - $787), Gerald Heath (14th - $787), James Pupillo (18th - $699) and Cole Sudeck (23rd - $604).

In the end, it was Illinois native Ken Donarski who collected every chip in play to win his second gold ring along with a $13,127 payday.

The one-day event was moving fast-paced as most turbo events are and bodies kept flying to the payout desk even after the final table was reached. It wasn’t until three players were remaining until chips were evened out and play slowed down.

Once Donarski eliminated Jeff Halcomb in third place, he took a sizable chip advantage into the heads-up match against Gordie Jones.

The heads-up battle lasted didn’t look like it was going to last very long as all the chips were in the middle the very first hand. Donarski flopped top-pair and was ahead until Jones turned his open-ended straight leveling the playing field.

The back-and-forth battle continued to a point where Jones took the commanding chip lead and the two players were all in once again. It was a race for Donarski’s tournament life as he held big slick while Jones held a made hand of nines. Jones was looking good to secure the title until an ace fell on the river giving Donarski the double-up and turning the tides once more in his favor.

The heads-up match continued with one more all in where Jones got his stack in on the turn holding two-pair while Donarski flopped his ace. Jones got his money in good once more, but it was like he was in a bad dream playing over as Donarski rivered a third ace to send Jones out the door in second place.

Wagner Ousted by Blevins

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Garrett Riley limped in on the button, and Dan Wagner raised to 2,800 from the small blind. Joseph Blevins called in the big blind, and Riley folded.

Wagner checked the {3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop to Blevins, who bet 3,500. Wagner check-raised all in for 17,400, and Blevins quickly called.

Dan Wagner: {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Joseph Blevins: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Wagner was drawing thin to the flopped set of Blevins, and the {6-Spades} turn and {3-Diamonds} river earned Blevins the knockout.

Barrels of Fun For Sladek

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Todd Sladek raised to 1,500 from under the gun, and found a lone caller in the big blind.

On the {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, the big blind check-called a bet of 1,800 from Sladek.

The big blind check-called 2,300 from Sladek on the {j-Spades} turn, and the {j-Hearts} fell on the river. The big blind checked, and Sladek fired 3,600. The big blind folded, and Sladek tabled {7-Spades}{6-Spades} for a busted gutshot before pulling in the pot.

Bunce Bounces Berk

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Michael Berk jammed for 7,700 from middle position, and Dan Bunce three-bet shoved for 14,500 next to act.

"I'm ready to go home," the button said before calling off his last 12,300, and all three players tabled their hands.

Michael Berk: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Button: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Dan Bunce: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The button maintained his lead on the {2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, but the {a-Diamonds} turn propelled Bunce in the lead. The {q-Diamonds} river bricked off, and Berk and the button hit the rail.
