More For Grandin

Level 4 : 100/200, 200 ante

Sultan Ahmed checked a {5-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts} board from the big blind, and Dave Grandin bet 3,600 into a pot of 5,000 from the hijack. Ahmed called.

Both players checked the {10-Hearts} river, and Ahmed showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for a busted nut flush draw. Grandin turned over {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for top pair, top kicker, and took down the pot.

PokerNews is in town to report the $1,700 Main Event here at the World Series of Poker Circuit at Milwaukee’s Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, but that is just one of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

In Event #3: $400 NLH Multi-Flight, 983 entrants competed over a trio of starting flights. Brunette Finds a Better Set

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante

Michael Berk raised to 700 from middle position, and Steve Wazwaz called from the hijack. Kenneth Brunette three-bet to 3,700 in the small blind, and both Berk and Wazwaz called.

Brunette bet 7,400 on the {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Spades} flop, and only Berk called.

The {k-Diamonds} fell on the turn, and Brunette jammed for 35,400. Berk quickly called.

Kenneth Brunette: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Michael Berk: {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

"Oh my God!" Berk said upon seeing the turn had left his set seeking the case five to survive. The {7-Spades} river wouldn't help Berk, and Brunette shipped a big double.

Altman Gets the Best Hand to Fold

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante
Brian Altman in Day 1a action
Brian Altman in Day 1a action

A substantial pot of 25,000 was already built up between Brian Altman and a lone opponent with the {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} board out on the felt. Altman bet 25,000 from the small blind, enough to cover his opponent from the hijack.

After a minute in the tank, the hijack said, "I let you do this to me all day," then folded his {4-}{4-} face up.

Altman showed {7-}{4-} for two pair, and the hijack smirked and said, "Next time, I'll just call."

"I thought I had the best hand!" Altman told the hijack.

Younan's Big Slick Does the Trick

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante
Michael Younan
Michael Younan

A player raised to 700 from early position, and Roland Israelashvili three-bet shoved for 11,500 from middle position. Michael Younan called on the button, and the early-position player folded.

Roland Israelashvili: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Michael Younan: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Younan increased his lead on the {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}{k-Spades} flop, and the {6-Diamonds} turn and {8-Diamonds} river were no help for Israelashvili.

Aces For Saul

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante

Kevin Saul checked a {9-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop from the small blind, and Ben Rock bet 3,000 into a pot of around 5,000 from the cutoff. Saul called.

Both players checked the {2-Hearts} turn, and the {k-Diamonds} fell on the river. Saul bet 6,000, and Rock called, only to muck after Saul tabled {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}.

Gallaher's Kicker Earns a KO

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante
John Gallaher in Day 1a action
John Gallaher in Day 1a action

A player was all-in and at risk for his last 2,300, and three players, including John Gallaher, who had just crippled the player when Gallaher's aces bested the all-in player's sevens in a five-bet preflop confrontation, had him at risk.

Tim Garles checked the {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop from the small blind over to Gallaher, who bet 4,500. The hijack called, as did Garles.

The {5-Spades} turn and {8-Diamonds} river were checked down, and Garles flipped over {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. The hijack had that beat with {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, but Gallaher's {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} would reign supreme, as the all-in player mucked.
