Joshua "Plinko" Clanton Wins Third Ring In $250 Turbo

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Potawatomi.

In Event #11: $250 NLH Turbo, 366 runners created a $73,200 prize pool that was paid out to the top 55 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the official final table were Okan Bas (10th- $1,112), George Pappas (23rd - $571), Cody Brinn (27th - $505), Christopher Underwood (41st - $377), James Burns (45th - $377) and Daniel Dombrowski (51st - $369.

In the end, it was North Carolina native Joshua "Plinko" Clanton who collected every chip in play to win his sthird gold ring along with a $15,374 payday.

The one-day tournament generated a total prizepool of $73,200. “Plinko” went into the final table at the bottom of the chip stacks but he never lost focus gathering chips from players until there were four players remaining.

Mack Ham was the first to bite the bullet after getting in his short stack ahead but fell victim to Gayle McCormick’s four-card straight.
Tim Frank was next after he jammed his ace-nine into Clanton’s pocket aces and took his exit in third place.

The heads-up battle saw Clanton hold the majority of the chips in play, but after two double-ups, McCormick took the chip lead and continued to play well until Clanton flopped a set of three’s ending her night in second place.

“Mack, Tim, and Gayle all played really well,” Clanton stated about his last three opponents.

The victory marked Clanton’s third ring, but he gave his first two away to some very important people in his life.

“This one's for me,” stated Clanton. “My first ring I won it was my son’s birthday so I gave him that one and then when I won my second one it was my daughter’s birthday the next week so she got that one, so this one is mine,” Clanton said with a smile on his face. This win brings Clanton’s WSOP earnings to just under $150,000.

“I just want to say thank you to my very special girlfriend Amanda for letting me play and to all the dealers/staff for doing an outstanding job.”

"Pops" Gets Popped By Yofon

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Brett Reichard had his last chips in preflop against Marcus Yofon, and was already standing up and walking away from the table.

The {6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{a-Clubs} board was on the felt, and Reichard's {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts} was bested by Yofon's {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, as Reichard's flopped pair of kings were beat by the rivered flush of Yofon, sending Reichard, who won his third WSOP Circuit ring here earlier in the week, to the rail.

Herstein Can't Crack Underwood's Aces

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Gary Herstein raised to 5,500 from middle position, and Christopher Underwood three-bet shoved for 17,500 from the cutoff. Herstein tanked for a minute before committing calling chips.

Christopher Underwood: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Gary Herstein: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}

Herstein picked up a pair on the {k-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop, and added an open-ended straight draw on the {9-Diamonds} turn. The {4-Diamonds} river bricked off for Herstein, and Underwood doubled up.

"Plinko" Gets Tested By Wazwaz; Kim Out

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

On a {q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts} board, Steve Wazwaz elected to overbet shove for 73,000 into a pot of 45,000 from the big blind, and Joshua "Plinko" Clanton went into the tank from the big blind.

He spent a solid three minutes in the tank, at one point putting the 73,000 needed to call separate from the rest of his stack. He eventually took the chips and put them back in his stack then folded.

Meanwhile, at another table, Yoon Kim was seen making his exit from the tournament area.
