A Battle of Big Stacks

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

There was a pile of chips in the middle on a board reading {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Paul Chai, who was second in chips entering Day 2, checked from under the gun. His opponent Roman Shainiuk, who was the chip leader coming into the day. Shainiuk bet 45,000 and Chai put in a check-raise to around 200,000. Shainiuk thought for a bit and folded.

With the pot, Chai is now just shy of a half-million in chips; and while Shainiuk was not the victor of this hand, he seems to be off to a great start as well, boasting a stack of over 600,000 as what is likely to still be the chip lead in the tournament as the bubble approaches.
