Craig Trost Captures Second Gold Ring w/ Event #3: $600 NLH Victory
The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is in Milwaukee to live report action the $1,700 Main Event, but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.
Event #3: $600 No-Limit Hold’em attracted 87 runners who created a $44,805 prize pool. That was paid out to the top 14 players and among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Yer Vang (10th - $1,055), Daniel Sarullo (11th - $1,055), Nik Stone (12th - $1,055), Andres Garcia (13th - $935), and Ed Smith (14th - $935).
Craig Trost came into the final table with the chip lead and the 34-year-old from Madison, Wisconsin wound up the winner for $14,834 and his second gold ring.
“I want to say thank you to my very supportive wife. She is amazing and I love her very much,” Trost said with a smile on his face.
Making the experience even more special was that he was at the final table with a good friend of his.
“Jeff Minnerly is a good buddy of mine so it was really fun to make a final table with him as well,” said Trost. “Coming back to the final four, I knew all the guys were really good players. It was really fun playing with them because they are all such great guys which made it such an enjoyable experience.”
