The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana in the Louisville area to live report the $1,700 Main Event; however, that is just one of more than a dozen gold ring events that have taken place over the past week. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

Event #5: $600 Pot-Limit Omaha Freezeout had 63 players create a $32,445 prize pool that was paid out to the top 10 players. After Ryan Dersch exited in 10th place for $860, the final table was set.

Eventually, the title came down to Matt Sterling and Charlie Dawson, with the former ultimately coming out on top to the tune of $10,578. It marked his second career gold ring.

“I definitely felt like I had a decent chance to win, only five of us left and I had more than an average stack,” said Sterling, a real estate investor. “I am actually heading to Las Vegas tomorrow to watch a golf tournament, so I won’t be playing in any other events this series.”
