Zoufri Flops Quads; Gets Paid

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Freek Scholten raised to 25,000 on the button, Hakim Zoufri three-bet to 72,000 in the big blind, and Scholten called. The {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} board got checked to the river. Zoufri then fired a hefty bet of 144,000 and Scholten called it off after a minute.

Stone-faced, Zoufri tabled {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for quad nines and extended his chip lead further.

Niko Mykkanen Eliminated in 4th Place (€20,277)

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Hakim Zoufri limped in from the small blind and Niko Mykkanen checked his option. On the {9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop, Zoufri checked, Mykkanen bet 12,000, Zoufri check-raised to 27,000, and Mykkanen called.

The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} and Zoufri checked. Mykkanen bet 48,000, Zoufri check-raised all in, and Mykkanen instantly called for 168,000 total.

Hakim Zoufri: {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Niko Mykkanen: {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

Mykkanen was ahead with the wheel but Zoufri had a ton of outs to still win the hand. Both a board pair or a diamond would deliver the Dutchman the winner, and he caught one of those with the {Q-Diamonds} on the river.

The last non-Dutchman in the field ended in 4th place and went off to the payout desk to collect €20,277 in winnings.

Kees van Brugge
Kees van Brugge

Kees van Brugge open-shoved 154,000 from the button and Freek Scholten found an easy call in the big blind.

Kees van Brugge: {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Freek Scholten: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The dealer fanned out a {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} board to end Van Brugge's run in 5th place. "The Beast", as he's affectionally known in local circles, added another five-figure score to his $700,000+ in lifetime winnings.

Alberto Stegeman Eliminated in 6th Place (€12,174)

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Alberto Stegeman
Alberto Stegeman

After Hakim Zoufri had raised in early position, action folded to Alberto Stegeman in the big blind. He shoved his remaining 54,000 in and Zoufri splashed in the extra chips.

Alberto Stegeman: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Hakim Zoufri: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Zoufri remained in the lead after the {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn gave Zoufri a straight flush draw but Stegeman picked up the other flush outs. The {J-Clubs} on the river was a blank and Stegeman was eliminated in 7th place.

The journalist and TV Host and start-of-the-day chipleader, famous in Holland for hosting TV programs such as Undercover in Nederland, took home €12,174 for his accomplishment.

Firoz Mangroe Eliminated in 7th Place (€10,260)

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Directly after Freek Scholten doubled through Alberto Stegeman, Scholten got it all in again. This time, he covered his opponent Firoz Mangroe, who had four-bet shove for 204,000 after Scholten had three-bet.

Firoz Mangroe: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Freek Scholten: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

Scholten had picked up the best starting hand in poker and all but decided it on the {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop. However, the turn was the {10-Spades}, one of the cards Mangroe needed to possibly wiggle himself out the dreadful situation.

The river {K-Spades} wasn't what Mangroe needed and he finished in 7th place, worth €10,260.

Scholten Doubles in Rollercoaster

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Freek Scholten open-shoved 152,000 from the small blind and Alberto Stegeman instantly called in the big blind.

Freek Scholten: {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Alberto Stegeman: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

Scholten needed to hit to stay alive and did so on the {4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop. The {A-Clubs} on the turn improved Stegeman again to the best hand. However, the dealer burned and turned the {9-Diamonds} on the river to give Scholten trip nines and the winner. Stegeman was left with 7 big blinds.

Stegeman Doubles Through Van Brugge

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Kees van Brugge raised to 20,000 in middle position. Alberto Stegeman shoved 91,000 from the small blind, and a reluctant Van Brugge slid in a call after thirty seconds.

Alberto Stegeman: {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Kees van Brugge: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}

Neither player improved on a {2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} board and Stegeman doubled up.

Raoul Refos Eliminated in 8th Place

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Raoul Refos
Raoul Refos

Hakim Zoufri raised to 23,000 in early position. Raous Refos shoved 116,000 in late position, and Zoufri called after thinking for a minute.

Hakim Zoufri: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Raoul Refos: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Refos needed to hit or he would become the bubble of the €3,500 WSOPC High Roller. The Dutchman failed to do so on a {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} board, making him the last player to technically leave empty-handed. However, the other players agreed beforehand to give the bubble €500 each, resulting in Refos getting his buyin back from the other players. All seven remaining players are guaranteed at least €10,260.
