A Champion Will Be Crowned Today
Welcome to the final day of our coverage of the Harrah's Philadelphia Main Event on the World Series of Poker Circuit presented by Southern Comfort 100 Proof! Today will see just 14 players return to the felt, one of whom will be crowned the Main Event champion. The man closest to achieving that dream is chip leader Michael Assante who bagged up 1.149 million at the end of last night.
Yesterday's play saw a large field of 192 players take their seats at the tables. The field quickly reduced in size as play wore on and the likes of Dave Voccia, Allen Kessler, Michael Esposito, Ari Engel, Aditya Prasetyo, Allie Prescott, DJ MacKinnon, and many others fell victim of elimination.
The money bubble was burst after the dinner break and the final 36 players were guaranteed a pay day of at least $2,722. Notable players to see their tournament come to an end in the money include Aaron Overton, Michael Taylor, Everett Carlton, Larry Pileggi, Cory Waaland, Tom Christopher, and Matt Glantz.
Today the remaining fourteen players will return with the first goal in mind of reaching the elusive final table. From there play will continue until a champion is crowned with the gold WSOPC ring, the seat to the National Championship, and of course the $121,095 in first-place prize money.
