Ben Mintz Eliminated in 8th Place ($27,192)

Level 30 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Ben Mintz - 8th Place
Ben Mintz - 8th Place

Joseph Hebert opened to 100,000 in the hijack seat, Ben Mintz three-bet jammed for 680,000 in the small blind, and Hebert made the call.

Hebert: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Mintz: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

Mintz was in good shape to double, until the dealer fanned {3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Clubs}, giving Hebert a set of threes. Mintz now needed a six or running straight cards to survive, and the {2-Spades} on the turn left him with just two outs.

It was not to be as the {10-Clubs} completed the board, and the NOLA native was eliminated in 8th place. Gracious as ever, he extended his hand to Hebert and wished the rest of the table good luck.

"I was lucky enough to get it in good," he said with a smile after the hand. "I take our beats like a man."

Pavan Bhatia Eliminated in 9th Place ($21,591)

Level 30 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Pavan Bhatia - 9th
Pavan Bhatia - 9th

Who knows if the recent bluff by Daniel Weinman against Pavan Bhatia had anything to do with the latter's recent elimination, but one can't help but think it might have.

In the first hand back from the break, action folded to Bhatia in the small blind and he opted to limp. Daniel Weinman exercised his option in the big with a raise to 175,000, and then snap-called when Bhatia moved all in for 1 million.

Bhatia: {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Weinman: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

It was a race, and according to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Bhatia had a 50.33% chance of winning the hand while Weinman wasn't far behind at 49.12%. The flop ultimately determined the hand when it came down {j-Spades}{2-Hearts}{k-Hearts} to pair Weinman's king, making him an 86.67% favorite. The {2-Spades} turn further increased that to 95.45%, which meant Bhatia needed a three on the river to stay alive.

The dealer burned one last time and put out the {A-Spades}, sending Bhatia to the rail in ninth place for $21,591.

Weinman Five-Bet Bluffs Bhatia

Level 29 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

In a blind-versus-blind hand, action folded to Pavan Bhatia in the small and he raised to 95,000. Not to be outdone, Daniel Weinman three-bet to 260,000 from the big and Bhatia came back with a four-bet to 595,000, leaving himself 1.14 million behind.

Weinman waited about 40 seconds before announcing that he was all in, and Bhatia tanked. About three minutes passed before he tossed his cards to the dealer and told Weiman, "Nice hand."

Weinman responded by tabling the {Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for queen high. Bhatia smiled a little and simply said, "You'd have won." Whether or not that's true will never be known, but one thing is for sure, Weiman isn't afraid to make a move when the feelings right.

Graham Evens Up with Weinman

Level 29 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Joe Hebert raised to 80,000 from middle position and received a call from Luke Graham. When action reached Daniel Weinman in the small blind, he opted for a three-bet to 220,000 and only Graham called.

When the flop fell {3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, Weiman simply moved all in and put the pressure on Graham, who had 955,000 behind. Graham, who finished sixth in the WSOP Circuit Palm Beach Kennel Club Main Event back in February for $40,029, thought for a solid four minutes before calling off.

Graham: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Weinman: {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

It was a good call by Graham and he would be rewarded big time as the {2-Clubs} turn and {J-Hearts} river allowed his hand to hold. With that, the two men are essentially even in chips.

Hebert Jams the River

Level 29 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Kasra Khodayarkhani opened to 85,000 in early position, Joseph Hebert three-bet to 145,000 in the hijack seat, and the action folded back to Khodayarkhani, who called.

The dealer fanned {10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, Khodayarkhani quickly checked, and Hebert continued for 105,000. Khodayarkhani called.

Khodayarkhani checked again when the {j-Clubs} turned, and Hebert fired out another 180,000. Khodayarkhani basically clicked it back, check-raising to 375,000, and Hebert thought for 30 seconds or so before calling.

The {q-Hearts} completed the board, and Khodayarkhani checked for a third and final time.

"All in," Hebert said quietly, sliding forward a stack of baby blue T25,000 chips.

Khodayarkhani sat quietly with his head in his hand, the wheels turned behind his eyes. He eventually pushed his cards forward into the muck, forfeiting the 1.2 million-chip pot.

Hebert now has 3.2 million chips, while Khodayarkhani sunk down to 1.05 million.

Did He Have Quad Aces?

Level 29 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

With around 400,000 already in the pot and a board reading {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{k-Spades}{4-Clubs}, Rogen Chhabra, who was in the big blind, check-called a bet of 80,000 from Joseph Hebert. When the {A-Diamonds} river put three aces on the board, Chhabra seized the initiative and led out for 160,000. Hebert thought for a minute before putting in a raise to 520,000, and it was enough to get the job done as Chhabra released his hand.
