Calculating Cope
As we move toward the end of Level 9 and the last break of the night, we're starting to see some big stacks emerge.
Tom Cope appears to have been the first here in Day 1b to crack the 100,000-chip mark. Cope has a number of cashes to his credit, many here in Mashantucket. He also made a deep run in the WSOP Main Event back in 2008, finishing 173rd.
We'd noticed his stack had ballooned upward, and he was nice enough to count it down for us — 106,550. He then got into a conversation with a floor person who for some reason had half of a $5 bill in his hand.
"Did you lose your $2.50?" asked the floor person of Cope. "No," he answered, then offered to provide a more accurate estimate there as well.
"Actually, that looks more like $3," he estimated.
