Fish Tanks, Calls; Woelfel Wins

Terry Grimes raised to 45,000 from under the gun, Brandon Fish called from the hijack seat, then Wade Woelfel pushed all in for 367,000 from the cutoff. It folded back to Grimes who folded, but Fish thought for some time before finally calling.

Fish: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Woelfel: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

A good spot for Woelfel, and after the board came {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{J-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, Woelfel had earned a more-than-double-up.

Cathy Dever Eliminated in 15th Place ($11,809)

Aaron Overton opened to 44,000 from under the gun, then Pete Rios called from a seat over. Cathy Dever then pushed all in from middle position, and when it folded back around to Overton he folded, but Rios was quick with the call.

Dever showed {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}, but Rios had flatted with {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} before calling her raise. The board rolled out {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and Dever — the last woman standing — was done in 15th place.

Douglas MacKinnon Eliminated in 16th Place ($9,748)

Douglas MacKinnon has been eliminated in 16th place, having lost most of his stack in a big hand versus Terry Grimes, then the rest shortly thereafter to Brandon Fish.

In the first hand, Trevor Deeter had opened for 45,000 from the hijack seat when Grimes reraise-shoved for 789,000 from the button. MacKinnon called the reraise, and Deeter folded, showing his {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} as he did.

MacKinnon had {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and the big preflop edge over Grimes who held {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}. But the flop fell {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} to give Grimes a set. The turn was the {Q-Clubs}, meaning MacKinnon would've been behind Deeter's Big Slick, too, if up against him. The dealer then burned one and turned over the {4-Spades} river, and MacKinnon was suddenly down to just 25,000.

All in on the next hand with {A-Hearts}{4-Spades} versus Fish's {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, the board went {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}, and MacKinnon was eliminated.

A Few for Overton

Jeffrey Wicker opened for 44,000 from early position and saw three players call — Aaron Overton (middle position), Cathy Dever (cutoff), and Adam Teasdale (big blind).

All four players checked the {A-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop. The turn then brought the {Q-Clubs}. It checked to Overton who fired 66,000, and only Dever called.

The river was the {J-Clubs}, and both Overton and Dever checked. Overton turned over {A-Spades}{4-Spades} for aces, and Dever mucked.

Overton continues to maintain a second-place stack at the moment among the final 16, and with that hand inches closer to leader Adam Teasdale.

Modlin Doubles Through MacKinnon

It's all about bustouts and double-ups so far on Day 3, and we have another one of the former to report to you here.

In this one Ed Modlin pushed all in from the button for 222,000 and got a caller in Douglas MacKinnon sitting in the big blind. Modlin had {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, MacKinnon {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, and when the next five cards came {6-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Modlin had survived.

Overton Overcomes Wicker's Rockets

Jeffrey Wicker raised to 38,000 from UTG+1, and both Aaron Overton (middle position) and Barry Leventhal (button) called the raise. The flop came {8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{6-Spades}, and Wicker led with a bet of 59,000 which only Overton called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs}. This time Wicker checked, and Overton took the opportunity to fire a bet of 83,000. Wicker called.

The river brought the {2-Spades} and another check from Wicker. Overton bet 210,000 this time, and Wicker called once more. Wicker tabled {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}, but Overton had {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} for the rivered flush and claimed the pot.
