Tran Doubles Through Liu

Jonathan Chehanske and Soi Nguyen folded their hands, and Lynda Tran moved all in from the small blind for her last 370,000. Edmund Liu was in the big blind, and he peaked down at his cards, and made the call.

Liu: {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}
Tran: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Tran woke up with a huge hand in the small blind, and she was in great shape to double up. The flop was action packed, coming {q-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. That paired the ace of Liu, but Tran picked up a diamond draw. The suspense was over on the turn when the {8-Diamonds} hit, and the meaningless river was the {4-Clubs}.

Tran collected the double up to get to 770,000, while Liu is now our short stack with 515,000.

Chehanske Catching Up

With Lynda Tran short stacked, and Edmund Liu being seemingly card dead, it's up to Jonathan Cheanske to duke it out with our chip leader Soi Nguyen, and he appears to be up to the task.

Action started with Chehanske raising to 65,000, and he got a call from Nguyen in the small blind and Lynda Tran in the big blind. The flop ran down {2-Spades}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades}, and it was checked to Chehanske, who fired out 115,000. Nguyen never likes to fold, and he wasn't going to here, as he raised it up to 260,000. Tran quickly got out of the way, but Chehanske made the call.

The turn brought the {4-Clubs}, and Nguyen kept the pressure on with a bet of 315,000. Chehanske cut the chips out of his stack, and thought for about 30 seconds before making the call. The river came the {9-Hearts}, and Nguyen finally decided to slow down and check. Chehanske quickly checked as well, and tabled {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for top pair. Nguyen mucked his hand, and the big pot was shipped over to Chehanske.

After that hand, Chehanske has nearly drawn level with Nguyen, sitting on 2.295 million to Nguyen's 2.55 million.

Tran Getting Short

We caught up with the action on an all club flop: {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Lynda Tran checked to Jonathan Chehanske, who fired out 105,000. Tran cut out chips for a check raise, and she put it in, a bet of 250,000. Chehanske made the call, and the turn brought the {7-Spades}.

Tran slowed down and checked, and Chehanske immediately announced all in, having Tran covered. Tran tanked for about a minute before folding, and that dropped her down to 415,000. Since that hand, she has shoved twice and not gotten called either time, pushing her back up to 550,000.

Erik Roussakis Eliminated in 5th Place ($26,861)

Wow. Erik Roussakis came back from the break as the second biggest stack, and on the second hand back, he was eliminated by Soi Nguyen after a cooler flop. Action started with Roussakis raising to 75,000 in early position. Nguyen defended his big blind, and the two saw a flop of {4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Nguyen checked to Roussakis, who fired out 100,000. Nguyen grabbed some raising chips, shuffled them for a bit, then tossed in a raise to 230,000. As he has done often throughout the final table, Roussakis acted quickly, and raised it to 500,000. Nguyen let out a small sigh, and announced all in. Roussakis let out a sigh himself before making the call, and we had the biggest pot of the tournament.

Nguyen: {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Roussakis: {5-Spades}{4-Spades}

Nguyen flopped bottom set, but he still had to sweat, as Roussakis could catch a spade. The turn was a black king, but it was the {k-Clubs}. The river was the other black king, the {k-Spades}, and though it gave Roussakis the flush, it also gave Nguyen a full boat.

After that pot, Nguyen is our monster chip leader with over half the chips in play.

Soi Staying Active

So far at this final table, Soi Nguyen has been the most active player at the table. He's routinely been raising and three betting, and has gotten plenty of action as a result. We just caught Nguyen in back-to-back big pots.

In the first hand, Jonathan Chehanske raised to 50,000 from the small blind, and Nguyen defended his big blind. The flop came down {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and Chehanske checked to Nguyen, who fired out 60,000. Chehanske put in a check raise to 180,000, and Nguyen tossed the chips in for the call.

The turn brought the {4-Diamonds}, and Chehanske checked again. Nguyen wasn't deterred by the check raise on the flop, and he bet out 150,000. Chehanske thought for about 90 seconds before kicking his cards in, giving the pot to Nguyen.

We caught up with the action on the next hand on the turn, with the board reading {9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. Nguyen bet out 90,000, and Erik Roussakis made the call. The river was the {2-Spades}, and Nguyen didn't slow down, betting out 188,000. Roussakis made the call, and Nguyen said "ace high". Roussakis tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a pair of tens, and it was good enough to take the pot.

Roussakis Takes Big Pot

Erik Roussakis raised it up to 55,000 from under the gun, and Edmund Liu made the call next to act. Everyone else folded, and the two saw a flop of {6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

Roussakis led out for 65,000, and Liu made a raise to 140,000. It only took Roussakis a few moments to announce a raise to 300,000, and it was back to Liu. He cut out the chips for the call, and slid them in, making the pot over 700,000.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts}, and Roussakis took just a few seconds to move all in. Liu asked for a count, and found out that the bet was worth 406,000. Liu cut out the chips for the call, and started playing with them. About 90 seconds into the tank, it look like Liu was stacking his chips and getting ready to call, but he didn't make an action. Eventually, after about three minutes in the tank, Liu folded.

After that pot, Roussakis jumps up to 1.281 million, while Liu drops out of the top two for the first time today, with 1.228 million.
