Modlin Mowed Down

Level 19 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Alas for Ed Modlin, as soon as we noted his big double up with kings versus queens, he found himself vying for another big pot against Gregory Burns, and that time came up on the short end.

Burns was all in following a {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} flop with {A-Spades}{2-Spades} (a flush draw and deuces) against Modlin's {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} (set of fives). The {3-Spades} then fell on the turn to complete Burns's flush, and after the {Q-Diamonds} river Modlin was down to just 45,000.

Soon after that Modlin found himself all in and at risk against three opponents, holding {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} while they had {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. The board ran out {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Clubs}{K-Hearts}, and just like that Modlin is out just a few spots shy of the cash.
