Johnston Makes Timely Call

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Eswar Kalippan opened for 16,500 in early position and action folded all the way around to Dave Johnston in the big blind. The flop came {7-Spades} {4-Spades} {K-Spades} and both players checked. The turn fell {5-Spades} and Johnston checked-called 18,000. The river paired the board with a {5-Hearts}, Johnston checked and Kalippan bet out 25,000.

Johnston leaned back in his chair and thought for a few moments. He picked up five T5,000 chips and tossed them in the pot. Kalippan sighed and sheepishly turned over {A-Clubs} {J-Spades}. Johnston tabled {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades} and took the pot with a better kicker.

The table half gasped, half applauded his call.
