Action Tightening Up

Level 28 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

The past fifteen minutes has seen some very tight action. They've seen one flop and a preflop raise has been enough to pick up the blinds and antes. But 85,000 is up for grabs each hand, which is pretty substantial.

Phan Regains Lead

Tuan Phan opened to 100,000 from under the gun, Manh Nguyen called from the small blind, and the flop came down {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades}. Nguyen checked, Phan instantly fired 200,000, and Nguyen called.

The turn was the {a-Diamonds}, and Nguyen checked again. "Three-hundred," Phan said instantly. Nguyen thought for half a minute, then called the 300,000-chip bet.

The {5-Diamonds} completed the board, and Nguyen checked a third and final time. Phan tanked for the first time in the hand, then fired 700,000. Nguyen eventually called.

"Aces up," Phan announced .

"Aces up beats me," Nguyen told him. "Nice hand."

Phan clapped with excitement as his rail burst into applause, and after shipping the more than 2 million-chip pot, he's back over 4 million chips.

Nguyen Smells Something Funny

Level 28 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Manh Nguyen opened for 100,000 on the button and Tuan Phan called from the big blind. The flop came {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn brought the {J-Spades} and both players checked again. The river brought the {5-Hearts} and Phan put out 250,000. Nguyen announced a call and before he could put the calling chips in Phan tossed his cars in the muck and said, "Nice call."

Nguyen tabled {A-Clubs} {7-Spades} to take the pot.

Break Time

Level 27 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

The remaining players have completed another two levels and are going on a 15 minute break.

"600"

Tuan Chan was cutting out some grey T5,000 chips, but before he did anything, he announced, "600." He then went to put out 60,000 chips, but the dealer interpreted "600" as 600,000. Chan objected, but Poker Director John Arthur explained to him that "600" could only mean 600,000, seeing that the blinds are 15,000-30,000. The bet stood.

The action had folded to Manh Nguyen at this point, and Nguyen moved all in for 1.085 million. Marc Andre Roy surrendered his big blind, and Phan, being priced in, called.

Showdown
Phan: {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Nguyen: {a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

Nguyen held as the board ran {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, more than doubling his stack to 2.2 million chips.

"Weird," Nguyen told his rail.
