Derden Can't Complete the Comeback

Preston Durden, who had been nursing a short stack much of the day, recently stopped by our desk and informed us that he had met his demise. It came when he got all in pre flop with {10-}{10-} and was called by a player holding {K-}{K-} and another with {A-Spades}{K-Spades}.

With a chance to triple, Derden watched the flop fall {7-}{8-}{9-}, giving him an open-ended straight draw. Much to his delight, a {J-} on the turn completed that straight and gave him a great chance to survive the hand. Unfortunately for him, the {Q-Spades} peeled off on the river to put three spades on the board and give his one opponent the nut flush.
