No Penalty, But a Firm Warning - 2:55 PM
Len Ashby opened the pot with a raise, and Frank Rusnak three-bet from the next seat over. When it came back around to Ashby, he plunked out a big stack of high-denomination chips totaling 73,000. He thought it was enough to cover Rusnak, and Rusnak thought so as well as he snap-announced a call and turned up his 
. Ashby tabled his 
, but there was a problem. When the stacks were counted down, it was actually Rusnak with the slightly covering stack, and Ashby still had 6,800 chips behind his four-bet. Hence, there was technically action still pending, even though neither player realized it at showdown.
Ashby went ahead and bet his remainder in the dark, and the dealer ran a flop of 
. Rusnak made the call, and Ashby was in bad shape. Bad shape, that is, until the peeled off on fourth street to give him the big lead. The river 
secured his double up, and he's back up around 175,000.
Rusnak, on the other hand, is left with just over 5,000. But that wasn't even the bad news. A pair of floormen came over to discuss the situation with the two players involved. The initial ruling was that both Rusnak and Ashby were to receive a one-round penalty for technically exposing their cards with action pending, but Rusnak was going to be blinded out while he was serving his penalty.
"I think that's terrible," Kevin Saul said from across the table. He continued to argue with the floor staff, and in fact no final decision had been made yet. After some more discussion, it became clear that there was no funny stuff involved, and it was simply an honest mistake by the two men.
Using what everyone thought was proper discretion (and with the fairness of the game in the forefront), the floor staff instructed the dealer to proceed with the next hand, but not without issuing a strong warning to both players. "So in the fututre, guys, we absolutely need to make sure the pot is square before we turn the hands up. We can't have that happen again."
Rusnak was eliminated just a moment later.

Tony Utnage won his first WSOP Circuit gold ring in a preliminary event in Southern Indiana and is playing here in Hammond for the $10,000 Regional Championship. He raised under the gun to 3,000 and Gordon Vayo called from the button. The flop came down 
and Utnage fired 3,600. Vayo folded and Utnage won the pot to move to 45,000 in chips.

Selbst Runs Into Parades’ Full House – 3:15 PM
In middle position, Vanessa Selbst raised to 3,000 and next to act, David Paredes made it 9,000 to play. Action folded around to Selbst and she called, leading to a flop. Selbst checked and Paredes bet 11,000, getting a quick call from Selbst. When the hit the turn, Selbst put together chips and bet 16,000. Paredes called and the fell on the river.
Selbst shoved and when Paredes called instantly, Selbst winced and knew she was beat. Paredes turned over for a full house. Selbst flipped over a and shipped her remaining 48,000-ish to Paredes, now up to about 280,000.
Corona, Please - 3:15 PM
Well, Ryan Julius tried to have all the chips in play by playing a massive 280,000-chip pot, but the poker gods weren't quite with him on this one.
Julius opened with a raise to 2,700 and then Michael Kelly made the call. Alexander Queen called and then Matt Stout three-bet to 10,800. Play folded back over to Julius and he asked to see how much Stout had left, which was exactly 59,000. Julius then paused for a little bit. "I'm going to raise," he said. "Make it 20,800," putting out the amount of chips needed to make it that much.
Action then moved back to Kelly and he thought for a bit. Eventually, Kelly moved all in for 133,200. Queen folded quickly and then Stout slammed his hand in as if he really wanted to play this one. Julius then made the call.
Julius tabled the and Kelly showed the . The flop contained an ace when it came down and Kelly took the lead. Everyone at the table had their jaws on the felt with what they were witnessing as the board ran out for the turn and for the river.
Kelly won the hand with his pair of aces, doubling up huge to 280,000. Julius was left with about 180,000 and a blank stare on his face.
"What the hell just happened?!?!" asked Julius after he sent over the chips.
"I don't really know what to say in these situations, but thank you," said Kelly to Julius.
"Thank you? You don't say thank you," said Adam Levy. "You just stack your chips quietly.
"I need a Corona," said Julius, to which Levy grabbed the cocktail server and ordered a Corona for Julius.
"It's on me," said Levy.
