A former bartender before he peeled back cards and stacked chips, Jim Anderson was just another unknown face in the field of 226 a few days ago. Now, he's the champion of the first-ever World Series of Poker Circuit Regional Championship here in Hammond, Indiana!
This event represents the Midwest region on the WSOP Circuit and Anderson was able to conquer quite the stacked field of players that came out for this $10,000 buy-in event. Anderson claims over $525,000 for his win, a WSOP Circuit gold championship ring and the right to be called a champion. By making this final table, he already had earned a seat in the National Championship at the end of the season where he will have the opportunity to go for a lot more cash and even a WSOP gold bracelet.
The key turning point for Anderson was when runner-up Gabe Patgorski had a minor blow up during three-handed play. Anderson called Patgorski's all-in, five-bet shove with pocket jacks and held against the 
offsuit for Patgorski. That pot catapulted Anderson to the chip lead and he never looked back from there.

On the button, Gabe Patgorski raised to 125,000. Jim Anderson put in a three-bet to 325,000 and Patgorski went into the tank. He thought for a few minutes and then four-bet to 655,000. Anderson paused, asked how much Patgorski had behind and then announced that he was all in. Patgorski made the call for the rest of his stack and the cards were on their backs.

and there wasn't much there for Patgorski. His chances were looking extremely thin now, but his cheering section still rooted for a club to come on the turn and give him a shot.
The turn brought the

Patgorski got a nice round of applause from the crowd and especially his cheering section, which included pros Brian Powell and Peter Jetten. He took home $324,770 for his finish while Anderson walked away with the title, the championship ring and the $525,449 first-place prize!

Two players folded to Gabe Patgorski, and he raised to 100,000 from the small blind. In the big, Bernard Lee said something across the table as he rubbed his cards for luck. After a few good strokes across the felt, he peeled them in front of the hole card camera and announced an all in. Patgorski quickly yielded, and Lee picks up a few chips.

Kohlberg couldn't come from behind and was eliminated in fourth place for nearly $175,000. Anderson picked up the chips and moved to a over two million. The remaining four players locked up $236,368 with the money jump.
Anderson Picks Up a Few - 9:55 PM
Jim Anderson raised to 100,000 from the small blind, and Gabe Patgorski asked how much he was playing before making the call.

Jim Anderson raised from the button to 90,000. Gabe Patgorski tanked for a bit from the small blind and then reraised to 300,000. Anderson didn't budge. He sat motionless for a bit and then four-bet to 650,000. Patgorski tanked for a bit then before asking how much Anderson had behind. The tournament staff helped to get a count on Anderson's stack and informed Patgorski, who then tanked for a little while longer.
Patgorski eventually put his head down for a few moments before rising and announcing that he was all in. Anderson called and a five-million chip pot was created.

The flop came down 
and Anderson picked up a set. The turn brought the and that meant Patgorski was still in this thing, needing a heart on the river that didn't pair the board in order to win the hand. The river completed the board with the and although it was red, it wasn't a heart. When the chips were counted down, Anderson was all in for 2.4 million total and Patgorski sent over the chips. Patgorski was left with around one million in chips, although we can't see too well from our angle.
Anderson Uses His Option - 10:10 PM
Gabe Patgorski limped into the pot from the button, and Bernard Lee completed from the small blind. In the big, Jim Anderson had the option, and he exercised it in a big way. "All in," he said with purpose, and the two folds came quickly in turn to send him the pot.

Bernard Lee moved all in from the small blind for 375,000. He was called by newly-minted chip leader Jim Anderson in the big blind.

Bernard Lee Eliminated in 3rd Place ($236,368) - 10:23 PM
From the button, Gabe Patgorski limped in, as he is fond of doing. Bernard Lee squeezed his cards in the small blind and announced an all in for 710,000. When Jim Anderson folded, Patgorski quickly called with the slightly covering stack. With Lee at risk, the cards were turned up:

"Good luck. Seriously, I mean that. Good luck," Lee said, walking across the stage to shake hands with his would-be knocker-out.
The flop didn't pair Patgorski, but it did bring him an awful lot of help as it came to give him nine more outs to the knockout flush. Lee had to fade 14 outs twice, but he could not even manage once. The turn crushed his pocket pair, leaving him dead to the ten of clubs only.
The river was the the right suit but one rank too high, and the was no help to Lee. After a fine run, he's been sent packing in 3rd place. That's good for nearly a quarter-million dollars, but his big for Circuit gold has come up just shy.

Dave "Doc" Sands raised to 67,000. Action folded to Shannon Shorr and he reraised to 167,000. Gabe Patgorski tanked for a minute in the big blind before folding and then Sands also folded. These two have been butting heads a couple of times and are surely familiar with each other being regulars in all of the biggest online tournaments.

Curt Kohlberg didn't want to wait anymore and moved all in from the cutoff seat for 185,000. Gabe Patgorski called from the button. Dave "Doc" Sands took some time in the big blind and then moved all in. Patgorski folded to the reshove and Kohlberg had a chance to triple up if his

Anderson Shoves By the Shorr - 6:45 PM
The table folded around to the blinds, and Jim Anderson moved all in from the small. In the big, Shannon Shorr gave a wide-eyed look, then rubbed his cards on the felt as he asked the poker gods for a big hand. It wasn't. He squeezed his hole cards quick, then dropped them back into the muck just as fast.
Shorr Shoves This Time - 6:47 PM
On the next hand, the table once again folded around to Jim Anderson, this time on the button. He opened the pot to 67,000, and Shannon Shorr three-bet all in from the small blind. Anderson didn't love it, but he called off his final 582,000 chips to put himself at risk. He would soon see some good news:

The flop was right in Anderson's wheelhouse as it came to keep him from sweating too much. Shorr began to count out the losses as the 
turn left him drawing dead. He paid his debt after the 
river filled out the board, doubling Anderson back into contention.

Action folded to Shannon Shorr on the button. He raised to 72,000. Gabe Patgorski was in the big blind and reraised, making it 207,000 to go. Shorr tanked for a minute and then announced that he was all in. Patgorski snap-called and tabled the . Shorr had run into a brick wall with his .
The flop came down and Patgorski stayed in front. Shorr needed a jack or running straight cards to stay alive or this massive pot was going to go the way of Patgorski.
The turn brought paint, but it was the wrong paint as the fell. The river brought more paint with the , but once again not what Shorr was looking for. He hit the rail in sixth place for slightly more than $100,000. He was all in for about 730,000 total and Patgorski was able to add that to his stack and shoot up to 3.65 million.
Sands Squeezes All In - 7:17 PM
Gabe Patgorski button raised to 60,000 to open the pot, and Bernard Lee made the call next door. In the big blind, Dave "Doc" Sands squeezed all in for close to 900,000 chips. Patgorski asked for the approximate count before ducking out of the way, but Lee quickly called to put himself at risk. Cards up, gents:

Kohlberg Shoves - 7:25 PM
Dave "Doc" Sands raised from the button to 60,000, the minimum amount. Curt Kohlberg moved all in from the big blind for 538,000. After Sands got an approximate count he folded and Kohlberg added some chips.
Beware of Patgorski - 7:26 PM
Jim Anderson opened to 70,000 from the button, and Gabe Patgorski called from the big blind. On the flop, Patgorski led out with 105,000 chips, and Anderson quickly surrendered.
Patgorski Check-Raises Sands on Flop - 7:30 PM
Dave "Doc" Sands raised from under the gun to 60,000. Gabe Patgorski made the call from the small blind and Bernard Lee folded in the big blind.
After the flop came down , Patgorski checked. Sands fired 87,000 and then Patgorski tanked for a couple minutes. He got a count on Sands' remaining stack before he raised to 182,000. Sands mucked his hand and Patgorski won the pot. He moved to right about four million in chips with that pot.
Kohlberg Raise-Folds - 7:33 PM
Curt Kohlberg opened to 80,000 before Bernard Lee moved all in for 567,000 from the small blind. Kohlberg thought it over briefly before giving the pot to Lee.
Sands Folds River to Anderson - 7:40 PM
Dave "Doc" Sands limped in from the small blind and Jim Anderson checked his option in the big blind. The flop came down 
and both players checked.
The turn brought the to pair the board and Sands bet the minimum, 30,000. Anderson made the call and the two saw the fall on the river. Sands fired another min-bet for 30,000. Anderson thought for a few moments before raising to 160,000. Sands tanked for a couple minutes and then folded. Right after he folded a moan of "Aaawwwhhhhhh!" followed by a "That was dumb!" came from someone behind the curtain.
You Can't Win 'Em All - 7:45 PM
Jim Anderson opened to 70,000 before Gabe Patgorski three-bet him to 206,000. When it came back to Anderson, he double-checked his hole cards and announced an all in.
The fold from Patgorski came rather quickly, the first pot he's dropped in quite some time.
Dave "Doc" Sands Eliminated in 5th Place ($131,299) - 7:49 PM
Dave "Doc" Sands was on the button and moved all in for 409,000. Action folded to Curt Kohlberg in the big blind and he looked at the first one. By his reaction, you could tell it was good. He then peeked at the second and snap-called, tabling the . Sands turned up the .
The flop came down and Sands only found a pair of tens, keeping him behind. The turn was the and without a queen or a ten, Sands was going to be the fifth-place finisher.
The river completed the board with the and that was it. Sands hit the rail in fifth place for $131,299. The four remaining moved up to a payday of nearly $175,000.

First in from the button, Gabe Patgorski raised enough to put the pressure on the two short stacks in the blinds. Brandon Adams quickly folded, but Bernard Lee took a good long squeeze. Content by what he saw, he said, "All right, let's go," and made the call with . He was in front, but Patgorski's was drawing live for the knockout.

, and Lee has found his double up. It's the first hand we've seen him play today, and it's served him well, pushing his stack up to 418,000.

From the button, Brandon Adams moved all in for 139,000. Dave "Doc" Sands made the call from the big blind and the cards were on their backs.

Continuity Issue - 4:57 PM
No one really noticed it, but Gabe Patgorski returned from the last break with a big patch on his right sleeve that read, "ROOT BONE". The patch was safety pinned to his arm. The production crew noticed it and asked him to take it off. Patgorsky tried to argue, but they said it was a no go and he had to remove it.
He had some issues getting it off his sleeve and had to go so far as taking his shirt completely off on set in order to remove the patch. He finally got it off and the production crew was happy again, giving the go ahead. The reason for the patch removal was "a continuity issue" as stated by the production team.
Anderson Fires the Turn - 5:01 PM
From under the gun, Shannon Shorr raised and Jim Anderson called from the big blind. The flop came down and both players checked. After the fell on the turn, Anderson fired 65,000 and won the pot.
Patgorski Can't Be Moved - 5:12 PM
We picked up the action on the flop as the dealer rolled out . Shannon Shorr checked, and Gabe Patgorski made a bet. It looked like around 65,000, though the amount was never announced. Either way, Shorr stuck in a check-raise for an additional 101,000, and Patgorski called.
Shorr fired another 188,000 on the turn, and Patgorski didn't waste too much time calling. When the rivered, Shorr slowed down, and Patgorski checked it back to see a showdown. Shorr tabled his airball first, and Patgorski's 
was good enough to win him a pretty substantial pot.
Sands and Shorr Race Big - 5:17 PM
Dave "Doc" Sands was under the gun to start this hand. He raised to 57,000. Action folded to Shannon Shorr in the cutoff seat. He thought for a bit and then reraised to 139,000. Everyone folded and play got back over to Sands. He asked for a count on Shorr's stack, which Shorr gave him. Sands thought for a little while longer and then announced that he was all in. Shorr quickly snapped it off. Shorr held the and was ahead, but racing against the for Sands.

Kohlberg v. Patgorski - 5:32 PM
Gabe Patgorski limped under the gun, and Shannon Shorr called all the way around in the small blind. In the big, Curt Kohlberg announced a raise, and he made it 115,000 to play. Patgorski called and Shorr surrendered, and it was heads up to the flop.
It came , and Kohlberg took his pause. After about a minute, he put out a bet of 150,000, and Patgorski made the call. Both men checked the turn, and the filled out the board on fifth street. When Kohlberg checked again, Patgorski made a small bet of 92,000 that was instantly called.

Sands' Turn to Move In - 5:36 PM
Dave "Doc" Sands opened with a raise to 57,000. Shannon Shorr reraised to 151,000. Sands then moved all in and Shorr snap-folded.
Anderson Continues, Can't Continue - 5:44 PM
Jim Anderson opened the pot to 55,000, and Gabe Patgorski made the call from the big blind. The dealer put out a flop of 
, and Patgorski led Anderson continue out with a bet of 64,000. The big blind took a long pause before check-raising to 136,000, and Anderson could not stand the heat. He folded his way back down around the half-million chip mark.
Lee Finds Another Double - 5:53 PM
Action folded to Gabe Patgorski in the small blind. He raised to 64,000, attacking Bernard Lee's big blind. Lee moved all in for 353,000 and Patgorski immediately called.

Gabe Patgorski raised to 55,000 from early position, and the table folded around to the blinds. In the big, Shannon Shorr three-bet it to 155,000 straight, and that was just the right amount to take it down right there.
