Artie Smith Eliminated in 12th Place ($8,958)
Level 25
: 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
It's been quite some time since we've seen Artie Smith drag a pot, and he won't be doing any more of that in this event now. Smith is out after open-shoving his 95,000 chips into the middle under the gun with . Mark Sykes called with from the cutoff, and Sykes was drawing live for the double.
He flopped lucky, too. The dealer rolled out to pull Smith into a big lead, and the turn kept him safe for the time being. The river was a disaster card, though, sending the pot and the knockout to Sykes.
It was a good battle, but Artie Smith has succumbed in 12th place. He'll move up the pay scale to nearly $9,000 for his efforts over the past two days.
