Williams Flirts with 100K Before Doubling a Short Stack

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

David Williams was getting close to that moment where he started completely running over his table. He was just south of 100,000 in chips after his {A-Diamonds}{k-Spades} bested an opponent's {k-Diamonds}{q-} in a three-way pot, {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. On the turn and river, Williams' opponent check-called bets of 2,400 and 5,700 with the second-best hand.

The very next hand, Williams opened to 1,200 pre-flop. A player who had just joined the table three-bet the button to 5,100. When action passed back to Williams, he didn't hesitate to dump 38,000 into the pot, enough to set the button all in. She paused for just a few seconds before calling all in for 21,000 total with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. Williams showed Big Slick again, {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}, but this time he didn't get there. The board rolled out {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} to knock Williams back to about 75,000.
