Deeb v. Pilgrim: Round Two

Shaun Deeb opened the betting from early position with a raise to 2,600. Dwyte Pilgrim has been making it a point to call Deeb's raises, and this time was no exception. Also into the pot came the big blind, and it was three handed to the flop.

It brought {2-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {J-Hearts}. Deeb checked, and Pilgrim flicked out a single gray T5,000 chip as his bet. The big blind ducked out, but Deeb furrowed his brow, grabbed raising chips, and stacked out a total of 16,300. Pilgrim quickly called.

Fourth street came the {A-Clubs}. Deeb paused for a moment before knocking the table, and Pilgrim quickly reached for chips. He threw out 24,000, and Deeb took his time considering his options.

"If you wanna see both cards, I'll show you," said Pilgrim. "But you do what you gotta do."

What he had to do was call apparently, as Deeb matched the bet. The river came the {5-Spades}. Deeb again passed, and Pilgrim instantly and quietly announced, "I'm all in, son." The two men exchanged glances for a couple moments with Deeb counting his remaining chips -- he had 46,500 of them left, slightly covered by Pilgrim. Finally, putting his own tournament life at risk, Deeb flatly said, "I call."

Pilgrim looked as if he had be caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and indeed he had. He sheepishly showed up his {Q-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}, while Deeb tabled the winning {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}. After pulling in that monster pot (the biggest of the tournament so far), Deeb has vaulted up the leader board, sitting now with just over 180,000! Pilgrim, on the other hand, is crippled all the way back to just 9,400.

With Dwyte Pilgrim reeling, Round 2 goes to Shaun Deeb.
