Vanderford Takes a Big Pot from Esposito

On a board of {4-Spades}{K-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{A-Clubs}, Floyd Vanderford moves all in against Lou Esposito for approximately 33,000. Esposito tanks and starts analyzing the hand. Vanderford sits stonefaced, anticipating the action. Finally Esposito makes the call. Vanderford flips over {A-Spades}{5-Clubs} for two pair. Esposito mucks his cards. After the hand, Esposito is down to 70,200 and Vanderford sits around 95,000.

Lee Wilson Eliminated in 21st Place ($7,180)

Lee Wilson
Lee Wilson
Lee Wilson has just been eliminated from the tournament by Jason Brice after getting it all in on a flop of {8-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} holding {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}; Brice made the call with {8-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Wilson picked up additional outs to stay alive when the {K-Hearts} fell on the turn, but the {J-Spades} on the river cemented the hand for Brice, sending Wilson to the rail in 21st place.

Rick Drury Eliminated in 22nd Place ($7,180)

Rick Drury
Rick Drury
With about 15,000 chips already in the pot before the flop, Rick Drury re-raises the field, all in for 24,100 more. The only player still in the hand, Gabe Costner, thinks for several minutes, counts out the call, and stares at his stack. Finally, he pushes those chips into the middle, and the players flip up their cards.

Drury: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Costner: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The flop brings a set for Costner, {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Spades}, and leaves Drury drawing to a gutshot. The turn and river cards come {5-Clubs} and {4-Diamonds}, and Drury is sent packing. It appears his wife didn't make it in time to see her man play.

Rob Quin Eliminated in 23rd Place ($7,180)

Rob Quin
Rob Quin
Rob Quin re-raises Mike Browne's 9,000 raise to 24,000. Browne moves all in, waving his hands as if he's fanning his chips into the middle. Quin calls.

Quin shows {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} and Browne shows {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}.

The flop comes {Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}, but leaves Browne still behind.

Then, the turn is a perfect card for Browne, the {Q-Hearts}, as he takes the lead. The river doesn't improve Quin's hand, and he is knocked out in 23rd place. He will take home $7,180 in prize money.

If the Wife is Happy...

Rick Drury is our short stack, and before the flop, he moves all in for his last 19,000. Action is folded around to Jeff Tims, who declares, "I think I have enough chips to call with this hand." He slides his chips in, and turns over {J-Spades}{10-Spades}, but Drury is in good shape with {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

Someone at the table says, "His wife is going to be pissed if you hit a jack," referring to the fact that she is en route to the casino to watch her husband play.

The flop draws a big reaction from the railbirds, {Q-Spades}{6-Spades}{K-Clubs}, giving Tims a ton of outs to win the hand. To the surprise of everyone, the {6-Clubs} and {2-Hearts} that followed miss Tims, and Drury doubles up to about 44,000.

"Your wife will be happy now," the player says.

"Ha, you don't know my wife," jokes Drury, in good spirits after taking down that pot.

Jon Nathan Eliminated in 24th Place ($7,180)

Timothy Miles raised to 7,500 preflop and received a call from Jon Nathan. On a flop of {10-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, Miles bet 10,000. Nathan Calls. The turn was the {8-Hearts}, and it was checked around. The river fell the {A-Spades}, and Miles checked to Nathan. Nathan bet 20,000 and Miles went into the tank.

Miles: "I think you flopped the joint."
Nathan: "I wouldn't slow play that hand. I might slow play A-Q, but not that hand."
Miles: "So you didn't flop it."
Nathan (smiling): Nope.
Miles: "I'm all in"
Nathan (jumping in the air): Call!

Miles: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Nathan: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

Nathan: "Damn. Nice Hand."
