Berende's Bleak Looking Set

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Paul Berende was just put in tough spot on the river when his set of queens didn't look too good anymore. Berende started the hand with a raise to 900 and two players made the call.

The flop brought out {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and Berende bet 1,600, after which one opponent made the call. On the turn the {5-Diamonds} hit and Berende's opponent check-called 2,900. The river was the {4-Hearts} and all of sudden Berende's opponent lead out for 3,500.

Berende tanked for quite a while but eventually he made a reluctant call. Berende was shown {K-Hearts}{6-Spades} and his {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} still turned out to be vicarious on this scary looking board.

"I'm not sure what I would've done if he bet very big," Berende laughed.
