Soyza Runs Into Holz's "Higher Quality Hand"

Level 13 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Michael Soyza
Michael Soyza

Action folded to Michael Soyza on the button, who raised all in for 155,000. Fedor Holz in the small blind made the call, and the big blind quickly folded to leave the players heads up. Before the cards were turned over, Soyza said "I have a high quality hand".

Once seeing Holz's hand, he laughed and said "That's a higher quality hand" and then mentioned "It can crack kings though". However, the 362 flop left Soyza with only backdoor draws to crack the kings of Holz. But the K on the turn left Soyza drawing dead, and the 5 on the turn officially gave Holz the pot with his set of kings, eliminating Soyza.

Haxton Gets the Fold

Level 13 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Action folded to Seth Davies on the button, and he raised to 45,000. The small blind folded, and the big blind Isaac Haxton made the call.

After the flop came 3J9 Haxton check-called a bet of 30,000 from Davies.

Both players checked the J on the turn, which brought the 5 on the river. Haxton then fired out 145,000, and Davies gave it some thought, before mucking his hand to give the pot to Haxton.

Day 2 of the $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller at the 2024 World Series of Poker Paradise is set to resume at 2:00 p.m. local time here at Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas. Day 1 saw a total of 101 entries, 29 of which will be returning today. With late registration and reentries still available through the first level of play (Level 13), the prize pool and payouts have yet to be determined.

Daniel Dvoress enters the day as the commanding chip leader with 3,835,000. The Canadian has already tallied up over $4,000,000 in earnings during the series, having finished fourth in the Triton Million event last week. He went on a serious heater during the last level of play on Day 1, and looks to continue that momentum heading into Day 2.

Fedor Holz trails in second with 2,755,000 and is also looking to make a run for a second final table here in The Bahamas. He placed third in the $100,000 Triton Main Event, earning his third six-figure score in the past month. In November, he recorded two separate third place finishes at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Monte Carlo.

Leonard Maue rounds out the top three not far behind with 2,505,000. The German is a WSOP Circuit ring winner but has yet to add a bracelet to his resume. As the only other player that enters Day 2 with over 100 big blinds, Maue seeks to use his big stack and his experience to his advantage as he continues to navigate through a tough field.
