Hellmuth Takes One

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After calling a bet on the {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{10-Spades} flop from Steven Zhou, Phill Hellmuth was faced with a bet of 17,000 on the {6-Clubs} turn. Hellmuth called, and the river was the {J-Hearts}. Zhou checked, and Hellmuth bet 12,000. Zhou tanked for several minutes, but eventually folded, and Hellmuth won the pot. Hellmuth showed the {K-Diamonds} and scooped the pot.

Phil Ward Eliminated in 17th Place (AU$5,779)

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

When we arrived at the table, Phil Ward's {A-}{K-} was just getting mucked against Steven Zhou's {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs} on the final board of {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{J-Clubs} board. Zhou had made quad fives, and after inquiry it was made known that Ward check-called the flop, turn, and river. The two were extremely close in chips, but Zhou had Ward slightly out-chipped after the final countdown, and Ward was eliminated.
