Birdman Has a Chance to Gain on TLB Leaders

Coming into today, Joey Boczek was in third place in the overall World Cup of Cards Tournament Leaderboard. He and Charles La Boissonniere were seated together at the final three tables of Event #15.

NameLeaderboard Points
Jason Conforti773.8
Charles La Boissonniere764.8
Joey Boczek701.9
William Blais616.4
Jonathan Bussieres597.9

La Boissonniere got dangerously low and was all in under the gun for just about 2,600. George Wall went all in and Rong Xu went all in as well for more.

Boczek told La Boissonniere that he was now going to pass him on the leaderboard. It looked like La Boissonniere was likely to be eliminated. The flop came {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and the three all in players discarded before tabling their hands.

La Boissonniere was in the lead with {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for a pair of twos, Xu had {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} for king high, and Wall had {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for ace high. The turn was the {3-Hearts} and the river was the {8-Spades} and La Boissonniere tripled up. Wall won the side pot and Xu was left with about 25,000.

Within the next few hands, Xu and Boissonniere were all in again, this time against Christian Rho. The flop came {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Rho showed {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} against the [ac8d of La Boissonniere and the {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Xu.

Neither Xu nor La Boissonniere could catch up and both were eliminated. Boczek now has a chance to try and bridge the 64 point gap on the leaderboard.

Five players saw the {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop and Sean Hollohan was first to act and bet 2,000. Vasilios Sklavounos went all in for less and Michael Blandford called. The players each discarded and the turn was the {5-Diamonds}.

Hollohan checked and Blandford bet 3,500. Hollohan called. The river was the {2-Hearts} and both players checked.

Hollohan showed {9-}{6-} for two pair, Blandford showed a better two pair with {k-}{6-}, and Sklavounos was in third place with {a-}{k-}. He was eliminated and the table broke after that hand.
