King is King at the End of Day 1b of $1,100 Playground1000 $1M Guaranteed!
The second of four live flights in the $1,100 Playground1000 $1,000,000 Guaranteed event is complete with Armand 'Osyter King' King leading the way after nine levels of play.
Of the 186 entries today, just 91 will make it through to Day 2 on Monday at 5:00 p.m. The total entries across the online Day 1 plus Day 1a and Day 1b comes to 380, with 189 players coming back for Day 2 so far. Just two flights remain for a shot at the $1 million CAD prize pool.
King takes over the chip lead overall so far, bagging 685,100 chips for the top spot today. His peak stack sat around 720,000 part way though the last level and he played some big pots to make up such a massive stack. King turned a set of queens to double-up and then busted a player with top pair top kicker after he flopped a set of threes.
Close behind King is Alexander Puchalski with 626,000, making these two players the only ones to cross the 600,000-chip mark today. Samuel Baylis bagged 543,900, with Michel Lacasse (505,000) and Ha Van Nguyen (408,700) rounding out the top five stacks.
Other notable players to make it through today include Laurence 'LadyLuckPoker' Grondin (360,400), Ruben Perceval (336,500), 2013 WSOP Main Event Champion Ryan Riess (323,100), Brady Hinnegan (277,200), Andrew Watt (235,700), Sam Tsehai (174,900), Poorya Nazari (159,200), 2013 WSOP November Niner Marc Etienne Mclaughlin (142,000), and Alyssa MacDonald (60,600).
The top stacks have to find chips from somewhere, and the players that contributed to their stacks and failed to move on include the likes of 2010 WSOP Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel, Michael Korovine, Yannick Harvey, Senthuran Vijayaratnam, and Carla Sabini.
That's all for today, so come back tomorrow as the PokerNews live reporting team brings coverage of Day 1c of this event on the way to crowning another champion at the World Cup of Cards!
