Day 1b of Women’s Winter Festival £400 Main Event Set to Begin at Midday

The second starting flight of the Women’s Winter Festival £400 Main Event is set to shuffle up and deal, with play scheduled to begin today at midday. Following a strong turnout for Day 1a yesterday, anticipation is high for another exciting day of poker as players look to claim their spot in Day 2.

Yesterday’s opening flight saw eight players secure their place in Saturday’s Day 2. There was an impressive performance from Mary-Rose McCann, who topped the Day 1a chip counts with a commanding stack of 330,000. Her stellar play has set the bar high, giving today’s hopefuls a target to chase as they look to secure their place in the next stage of the tournament. Lisa Roberts also had a good run yesterday, making it through second in the counts. She continued to build a stack after she bust Melanie Moser having flopped a straight. Today’s field will battle it out for the chance to join them, take home the trophy and their share of the £100,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The top 20% of today’s entries will advance, setting the stage for an intense competition as the action heats up on the felt. Adding to the mix, 20 players who earned their seats through a qualifying satellite that took place will also jump into the fray today. The atmosphere promises to be just as electric yesterday, with players chasing poker glory.

Players will start the day with a stack of 30,000 chips and blinds will be 100/100 with 100 big blind ante in Level 1. Forty-minute levels will be played, with a break every three levels. There will be a 45-minute dinner break after Level 10, at approximately 7:25 p.m.

Late registration will be open until ~8:25 p.m. with each player limited to one reentry per flight. Play will stop for the day when 20% of the field remains. The prize pool will be announced at the start of Day 2 after all three starting flights have been played.

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Louise Barnbrook limped from the cutoff, and got a call from Emma Jones on the button. Both blinds checked.

The flop came 2♥A♠10♥ and play checked to Jones who bet 300, which was enough to take the family pot.

A few hands later, Juliane Papazian limped from the cutoff, and both Jones and Krisztina Kormos checked the blinds.

The 9♦5♥4♠ flop was checked to Papazian, who bet 200 with both blinds calling behind.

The 7♥ was turned, and Jones check-called after Papazian bet 600. Kormos folded.

The K♣ river saw Jones check, Papazian bet 800, and Jones raise to 2500. Papazian considered before mucking their hand, leaving Jones to take another early pot.

Alexandra Loveless opened to 1,000 from the cutoff and got a single call from Caroline Cove in the big blind.

The K♣7♣3♣ flop was checked down as was the J♣ turn.

The K♦ river saw Cove bet 1,500 with Loveless raising to 4,000. Cove made a quick call and the players flipped their hands.

Loveless showed A♦Q♣ but Cove had her beat with the higher flush, turning over A♣5♠.

Linda Nguyen opened to 1,200 from under the gun and got two callers, Daiva Byrne in a middle position and Beverly Nicholson in the big blind.

The 7♣J♦10♠ flop got a check from Nicholson and Nguyen bet 2,000, which got two calls.

A 3♠ was turned and Nicholson checked. Nguyen bet 5,000 and both players folded, giving a chip up to Nguyen.

Gemma Thomas opened under the gun to 2,000 and got a call from Solli in an early position. Saxby moved all in for her remaining 5,000 chips and Silva Montini called from the cutoff. Thomas and Solli also called.

The 9♣4♣10♦ flop was checked to Montini who bet 8,000. Only Solli made the call.

The 3♦ turn saw Solli check and Montini tank-check.

When the Q♠ came on the river, Solli moved 50,000 into the middle, forcing Montini all in if she called.

Montini took around two-minutes to fold, leaving Solli and Saxby to flip.

Solli took the pot and eliminated Saxby having beat her bottom pair with a pair of fours.

Action was followed from the 3♥6♠Q♥ flop with Lynne Beaumont in a middle position with 10,500 chips already in the middle. Scarlett Hostein also had 10,500 chips in the middle. Bernadette Daley had just moved all in from the small blind for around 32,000 and action was on Soraya Estrada in the big blind.

Estrada moved her remaining 16,000 stack into the middle. Beaumont folded and Hostein called, covering both the other players stacks.

Estrada was looking for the triple up and was sitting with middle pair. Daley was ahead with a pair of queens.

Emma Wilkinson opened from under the gun to 3,000 and Soraya Estrada moved all in from an early position for around 15,000 chips. Linda Nguyen re-jammed for around 28,000 shortly followed by Amber Sullivan in the big blind.
Emma Wilkinson was the last to move all in, after she first opened the action from under the gun and all four players flipped their cards, with three players put at risk.

Nguyen was ahead until the 10♣6♥5♠ flop, giving Sullivan trip tens. She told the table to hold still, not wanting the action to change.

The 6♠ river didn't change much, but Nguyen stole back the pot when the river came the Q♣, souring her into the top of the chip counts.

Nguyen took the main pot and Sullivan secured the side pot, having covered Nguyen's initial jam. Estrada was seen walking away from the table.
