Women’s Winter Festival Heats Up as the £400 Main Event Kicks Off at 1p.m

The wait is finally over! The highly anticipated PokerStars Women’s Winter Festival has officially begun at The Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square. The high-roller event kicked things off being the first of many exciting competitions set to light up the iconic venue in the coming days.

The centrepiece of the festival, the £400 Main Event, is a three-day showdown starting today at 1 p.m. with Day 1a. Boasting a guaranteed £100,000 prize pool, the tournament is expected to attract a great field of players, all eager to claim a share of the action.

Players will start the day with a stack of 30,000 chips and blinds will be 100/100 with 100 big blind ante in Level 1. Forty-minute levels will be played, with a break every three levels. There will be a 45-minute dinner break after Level 10, at approximately 8:40 p.m.

Late registration will be open until the end of the break after Level 10 (~9:25 p.m.) with each player limited to one reentry per flight. Play will stop for the day when 20% of the field remains. The prize pool will be announced at the start of Day 2 after all three starting flights have been played.

Antonina Volosnikova was seen leaving the table, having been recently eliminated from the tournament, when Susan O'Connor was seen taking a seat at the same table having just entered the tournament.

On the same table, Ilie Cristina started the action by raising to 600 from a middle position. Dana Acharya called from the cutoff, as did Lisa Roberts on the button and Virginia Windsor in the big blind.

The J25 flop was checked to Acharya who bet 2,000. Roberts was the only caller, takin the players heads-up to the turn.

Action stagnated as both players checked to showdown after seeing a A turn and 3 river.

Acharya showed KJ and Roberts mucked her hand, leaving Acharya to take the pot and build a chip lead stack.

Zolte checked the flop, Plint bet 2,500 and Zolte called.

The 8 turn was checked by Zolte and Plint bet 5,500. Zolte made a swift call and the players saw the 3 river.

Zolte bet out 6,000 on the river and Plint went into the tank. After around 2-minutes, Plint called and Zolte quickly showed QQ.

Plint mucked and said "yeah, it was that or nothing", leaving Zolte to take a big pot.

The QA5 flop was checked around to McCann, who bet 2,500 and got a single call from Roberts.

The K turn was checked by both. Roberts bet 5,000 on the 6 river, which sent McCann into the tank.

After around two minutes, McCann made the call. Roberts showed A4 but McCann took the pot with A8.

In the next hand, McCann raised from under the gun to 2,000 and Roberts moved all in.
